It would be dumb to have a women's group at JOSS competing against the men. it would be also dumb to require a female in each of the men's teams as they'd likely resent it and it could be patronizing as they figure out how to just fit them in. What might be cool at some point would be to have a few female groups of two or three given the opportunity to film on those amazing sites, have that time to see what they could put together in terms of a film edit. The point wouldn't be to be competitive with the guys but to see what was possible for female skiers, to see where women's skiing is at, to progress it in that high level environment. JOSS has amazing features and they are considered to be very safe (men want to be protected from injuries too--look how many guys are out right now!) and the event is organized to encourage maximum success. JOSS is all about creating a great edit and it might be really good for freesking to see what a few groups of females would come up with. They might not be great the first time because females just don't have as much filming experience but it could really push the progression for females.
Each time females have been given the same competition opportunities as the males (like X games), there has been progression in the sport. Female snowboarders receive way more competition opportunities for more years than female skiers which has helped their progression and given them profile. This causes young females to go into snowboarding as they see it as a female friendly sport (with its own female snowboarding magazines, etc.) Sure most of them don't become competitive but it is money for the industry and fans for the sport and its athletes.
Umm....
