Afterbangs or chronics?

I ski mostly park and hit the moguls and cliffs and trees and stuff what should i get ^

Afterbangs are cheaper, meaning that cheaper materials are used. As a result the bases don't really hold wax all that well and the skis are slow-ish. Also they are symmetrical, so while great for park and skiing switch they are not good for carving on groomers.

Chronics cost more. They have a better base that holds wax (right? someone tell me if this is correct) and because of that they are faster (when waxed, of course. Wax your skis.) They are not symmetrical, so they will carve better when mounted a few cm's back from true center.

Also Afterbangs are softer. I would call them medium-soft whereas the Chronics are medium-stiff.


These are the main differences. I can't tell you which one is better for you, you're the one who has to make that choice.

I would get the chronic cryptionite. Fatter waist better for pow great for shredding the whole mountain.

Not even remotely the same ski....  My choice is chronics though, you can take them everywhere and still destroy the park.  No chronics next year though, so either have to get previous models or the Cryptonite next year.

the step up looks like a improved chronic for next year.

Nope, it's just a stiffer version of the Afterbang. That means it's not an all-mountain ski at all, but rather a stiff park ski.

u should probably go chronics if your gonna hit moguls and backcountry, afterbang park ski

No it's not. Yes it's similar to the Afterbang as it's the same dimensions, just upscaled. But in terms of flex pattern it's more similar to the chronic.

I have chronic cryptonites- i'm regularly in pow, trees, and all over the mountain having a great time. and when i get to the park they still kill it

Get chronics, I'd wait a couple more years for the Afterbangs so they're defects can be worked out

i own a bangs and i like my skis pretty long, so the dont really slip out on jumps for me
also while the butter zones might weaken the ski a tiny bit they are still durable as hell. the topsheet chipping is not a problem and it doesnt affect how it skis
my topsheet (not really a topsheet, just wood) is chipped and it skis fine and it is not water logged
finally speed issues have not really shown up for me its fine
one thing that you need to remember is that the a bangs are a park ski and will ski like a park ski
it handles a little bit on all mountain but it is best for park

Chronic. Way more versatile, better on bigger jumps, still kills it on rails, and much faster because it has a sintered base, not extrueded.

I just bought the 09/10 chronics online, there are great deals right now.
