Building a Backyard Setup; Start to Finish.

So I figure I'll up my game and build a backyard setup this year, any suggestions on having it kick more ass?

I'm thinking 16-20 foot drop-in ramp, after that I've got a 100 foot area to play with, gonna put in a few rails and boxes to start, and definitely a kicker or two. Got 2 arenas nearby for snow, and a bunch of guys willing to help, I'm so stoked right now. I've been learning how to weld, and I can get wood and shit on the cheap, this is looking pretty legit. Will post pics as this gets underway.

Ambitious? Yes. Doable? FKNA right.

Also, what's that material they use for water ramps? Looks like latticed rubber or someshit, and if that's retardedly expensive what else can I use?

Astro turf is what most people use. I guess it is relatively cheap, but I think the water ramps use snow-flex, but I'm not positive. Oh, and this idea sounds sick! Follow through with it for sure!

Yep. Water ramps use snowflex and that shit is definitely not cheap. Go with some AstroTurf and for even more speed, put snow fence on top of the AstroTurf.

Yeah, but you lose a lot of control with snow fence. AstroTurf should be fine, just use lots of water and soap from a dollar store.

have snowfence on top of astroturf for your drop in and then just astroturf for the jump so you have some control going off it. pvc is great for making rails and it is also reasnoably priced

If there are any dryslopes near you they will probably have alot of dendex or snowflex that has been used that they will only be happy to give to you for free.

A friend of mine has a snowmaker he made himself, but you need temperatures of -3 in order to make snow. Astroturf it is. Too, blowing snow on a well isn't the brightest idea.

I don't know about the 20 foot drop, maybe closer to 16 or 18. I'll take some pics of my backyard, but I wanted to do something similar to what Charlie Stevens has, with the rail on the drop.

Do it, and go big. Jumps won't be forgiving if you get it wrong though.

Planning on putting the drop-in ramp between the tree and the house, using both as supports.

Looking down across the lawn, it's about 120 feet diagonally, and about 110*100 feet in area. THere's a slight hill a bit down from where the drop-in will be, perfect for keeping speed. The yard itself is slightly sloped.

not much you can with kickers, but I used outdoor carpet and soap for my rail set-up, super fun. If you had snow flex like a water ramp you could have a kicker but you would need like 60ft drop in to make worth it. I've heard its like $200 per square foot for snow flex (could be wrong.)  Wind fences and wet tarps work too but you can't edge that way.

and also you will get much more help in ski gabber then build a jib cult. maybe in the summer it will get going agian but right now its dead..

Lattice is too slick for lip so need to use something else for lip.  Orange construction fence works well.

I don't think you know the half of it. a 34 day season, no car, 150km to the hill, no money... It takes dedication. We are bona fide obsessed (or at least I am). This rail setup is just the next step.

thats fucking huge. i have some pics up on my profile of my ramp and its plenty big for a jump, jib, and 2 rails. and we still had almost to much speed for the jump.

Small update: I've been scrounging money for a little while now, trying to find some cheap lumber and whatnot. It was suggested that I could use a nearby field, which is absolutely MASSIVE, and would suit this idea much more than my backyard. As soon as I can get some wood or money, this ramp is shooting up.
