Replying to Goggle question

Ok i'm sure i'm going to get railed on for asking this but before you burn me on the stake know that i'm 18 and have been skiing my whole life. I'm not nubile or anything. My question is this: whats the deal with the whole new park skiing trend of wearing your goggles so the strap goes inside your helmet and around your head instead of staying on the outside. I haven't been able to come up with any practical reason on why people do this other than all the pros do it and most skiers in general are trendwhores.
