Hey guys, right now im on some 169 K2 hellbents and next year im gonna step it up to something bigger. Right now im trying to decide between the Chetlers and New Lifes. I am 5'10 and 130 lbs (yeah i know im skinny). Im looking for something really playfull (butters jibbing etc) but still able to hold its own on the big steep lines. What are your thoughts? Pros and Cons on both if you can.
Atomic to me backs up thier skis better then surface. And I think you will have alot better versatility then the New life. I've ridden on both skis and I personally like the betchetler better when it comes to freestyle but the New life would be better for backcountry in my opinion.
"something really playfull (butters jibbing etc) but still able to hold its own on the big steep lines." i believe that the one life made by surface would be much better for you. new life is more stable and solid while one life is jibby. but the one life is stiff and still charges really well, it depends what you want more between charging and jibby. personally i like the one lifes because they are more nimble in trees and are more slashy, but either is a great ski i recommend them!
my friend has the one lifes and loves em. but i can get the chets and the new lifes for a great deal from some other friends. i was already leaning toward the bentchetlers a bit more than the newlifes and after reading what you guys had to say i think im gonna go with them. just one more thought: im a pretty small guy (130 lbs 5'10) and i was thinking that 183 might be a bit to big.
I'm 5'5 and the Bentchetlers work great for me. Just mount them close to center (or true center if you prefer) and they are more manageable. I'd go with the Chetlers; best ski I've ever skied, and I also live in SLC so can attest that they would work well in the conditions you ride.
