Thall vs alpha 2... yes i searchbared

So i have the chance to get any armada ski, but i need some park skis cause i have ep pros for pow and my park skis are done. I´m 5'7'' and 145 lbs. Ski about 90% park and 10% groomers when there is no pow.

I´m between the thall and the alpha 2. I have a few questions for the guys that have skied them. No thread seems to give a good opinion on how they perform on groomers. I need to know wich one would be better to mess around in groomers.

Also, everyone says that thalls are softer than the alpha 2, but with the rocker on the alpha 2 there is no problem on doing butters and nollies. I really like doing butters and mess around with nollies and have good pop on my skis, but i don´t know if the alpha are going to give me that. How do this 2 skis compare on this subject??

Finally, i´m a little worried about the lenght if i go with the alpha 2. I prolly will center mount them, and with the rocker should i go with 182? my last skis where 07 ar6 in 176, so i was thinking about going biiger with the alpha 2, so they are a little wider also.

the thall is a little bit softer than the alpa 2, both skis do butters just fine. It seems like you are leaning towards the alpha 2, and yes go with the 182, for the rocker will make the ski seem smaller, but you will have the extra length for easy grabs

either ski is perfect but definitely the alpha 2 is more jump orientated

i have the JJs and whenever i go to nollie the nose of the ski starts to catch due to the super low profile of it. thats the only problem i can see with the halos or alpha 1s

I skied the alpha 2s last year, and I liked them alot, however I think they might be too stiff for what you're looking for. I'm a solid 5' 11" 180 and I would say I have really strong legs. I would consider them a stiff ski, the difference between the alph 1 and 2 is that the alpha 2 is much stiffer underfoot. The flex is all in the tips and tail. once you can get up on your tips and tails they flex easily, but you really have to muscle them up there. Of my three friends, that I skied we all liked our skis and they were:

Friend one: 5' 10" 145 skinny as a twig skied 176 invaders and loved them.

Friend 5' 7" 165 same build as me but shorter skied 176 AR6's and loved them, however they felt very soft compared to my Alpha 2's

In terms of groomed snow performance between the two, the turn radius is what separates them the most. The THall runs from 18 to 21.5 meter turns while the Halo (Alpha 2) is12.5 to 15.5 depending upon length. If you like bigger faster more GS turns on hardpack, go THall... for a shorter, quicker more slalom shaped turn, try the Halo. 1 extra stringer of wood in the THall and it will also be positive (traditional) camber, you will get E.S.T. rocker like the JJ in the Halo.
