Computer help. Why is there so little space left on my hard drive?

So right now i have 5gbs of 215gbs left on my hard drive. Music and videos combined I only have 16gbs. I don't do anything but the internet, music/videos, and homework on my computer. Every folder in my Program Files takes up a combined 9gbs. I run system clean up and CCleaner and those both only take out a few hundred mbs. I know I'm not very computer smart but am I doing something wrong here? What is taking up all my space? Or is there something wrong with my computer?

cleaned it up and now only have like 16 gb's but its better

I guess the only thing to do is go to My Computer and then the hard-drive and list all files/folders in order of size (view - arrange by size), then try to go through the folders to see what it is that's taking up all the space. Just make sure it's always shown in order of size

i have 134 gbs left- but soon i will transfer all of my music over and that 80 gigs- sooo yeah- maybe i will set an old external drive as a server

facepalm.



i recommend you defragment your hard drive, delete your temp files(if you havent already, system clean up usually does) and empty your recycle bin. if you still have a lot of junk somewhere, id recommend just lurking all the folders.

its this new virus that just came out recently in the past 2-3 weeks.. it basically fills up your storage and makes it pretty damn hard to find the files and if YOU yourself try to delete the files just re appear.. i happened to have the virus and i needed my computer technician to actually do it with some pretty hard core saftware

these tend to take up a lot of space, but i would say its a necessary sacrifice to make. i would suggest deleting something non-essential. maybe everything else on your hard drive?

s my advise as well would be to get everything off of ur comp u want to keep ie. music, pics, homeade porn, no downloaded porn it has viruses.  Reformat your computer.  Besides just cleaning your hard drive it is a very healthy thing for overall long term health of you comp to reformat it from time to time.

I usually format my comp at least once a year, and i have  shit HP from 2002 which runs like a fucking champ.
