Do it Yourself Longboards on Soul Boards

I used the search bar and couldn't find a thread so...

I was looking to buy a longboard and i saw some on souldboards.com and they are pretty cheap like $45 and $25 to ship it but you have to build it yourself so i thought this was a pretty good deal and was wondering if anyone had done this or ordered a board from them before and how their boards were also if anyone could recommend a good beginner board or anything

My friend did that and it was a complete joke, nothing lasted and it was just all together shit. I think it is better if you go for a good board that will last and is good quality right away. That being said I make those exact kindof boards wierd right.....check my thread:

You get what you pay for with longboards but IMO you get more than you pay for with kracked skulls they are a really good deal.

You also get less than you pay for with S9.

it really doesnt matter what you get as long as it has gumballs and some decent bearings on it and not shitty trucks.

Don't, I repeat don't DON'T buy anything from soulboards. They will fuck with you. A few years ago I bought a shitty OS3 complete from them, payed for 2 day shipping because I had money to blow, the fucking thing didn't come for two months. When it did come, it was scratched, and had no bearing on the back left wheel. Total bullshit.

From experience, I don't recommend them. They are a bs company. Like someone said, what you pay for is what you get. Spend the money, and get a Loaded. Best decision you can make.

ok so i am hearing awful things about soulboards so i honestly want nothing to do with them anymore, can anyone recommend a good beginner board? for hopefully around of less than $100, i pretty much just want to do some cruising around and carving and occasionally bomb a hill any ideas??

well i have been looking around and the Sector 9 Mo' Sake looks like a pretty sick board for what i want to do, anybody got any opinions of Sector 9 for long boards or the Mo' Sake as a beginner board to cruise around on??

I got a S9 as my first board and loved it. You really can't go wrong with a board selection. Pick a shape and size you think you're gonna like and go with it. I payed 150 on ebay for a S9 bingtang and I loved the board. Upgraded to some better wheels and trucks and it was even sicker. I now have 3 boards and there all sweet.

Some companies I would reccommend are:
Kracked Skulls(cheap but still pretty good quality
Sector 9
BC longboards(Get a VERY good custom graphic complete for $200)http://www.bclongboards.com/
Bustin Boards(Again pretty good quality for a reasonable price)http://bustinboards.com/

I would recommend against loaded boards. Sure they are nice boards but they are definitly overpriced and IMO not worth the money ESPECIALLY if you are a beginner.

It all depends on what you're looking to get. Something to carve with, something to cruise with, something to bomb hills with, or something to commute with?

That's the first question you're going to want to ask.

i really want something to just carve and cruise with and maybe bomb a few hills, i was looking at The Classic Floater from Gold Coast looks like a pretty solid  beginner board for what i want to do, any opinions on this board or brand??

seriously. you CAN NOT find a better deal than a kracked skulls. im not going to lie, there are better boards out there, but for the price (mine was $148) it is a smokin deal. i dont care what gay-ass sector 9 you wanna buy from zumiez, or how badly you wanna get ripped off by souldboards, just man the fuck up and buy a kracked skulls. you wont regret it. i fucking promise.

well it seems like the majority decision to get is the kracked skulls M1 which i think is what i am going to do, anybody recommend a size for me i am 5"11" right now and about 155 lbs but will probably grow more? i just want to cruise around and carve maybe bomb a hill or two

Just ordered a kracked skull scimitar thursday. the scimitar is pretty much just flexier than the m1. but deffinatly go with kracked skulls.. best deal you will find. and kracked skulls have the option to have grip tape on them.

i think you can order it with clear quartz griptape stuff, but its kinda expensive. i know i ordered mine without grip tape and then just had the skate shop near me grip it for me. which they did for free.


i dont really remember.


also, the scimitar isnt flexier, it just has bigger cut-outs on the ends so you can use bigger wheels. other than that the two are identical.

i think shipping was like $10 when i bought mine, although i dont remember,

i do know it took it about a week and two or three days to arrive. it was pretty quick.

looks like i am gonna be getting a kracked skulls M1 i just wanna thank everyone for the help and i think i am gonna go with a 43 length would that sound good?? i am 5'11" and 155 lbs but will probably grow more

i just have one more question, i know the Kracked Skulls M1 has wheel cutouts and i was just wondering if a board with wheel cutouts would be better then a traditional pintail? are basically the only benefits no wheel bite?
