I know how ya feel man. My local hill has over 6m of snow and they'll probably hit 7m before they close. It's painful but like someone said above, they just don't make enough in sales to justify being open longer. Most people around here kinda shift into spring/summer mode by early-mid april. Just gotta hike it.

Bridger Bowl closes this weekend with about a 91" base and Big Sky closes next week with probably about a 70 or so inch base.
Big Sky is also owned by private company or whatever it called and could stay open longer but I am guessing they just don't want to even though they would make massive amounts of money being the only resort in Montana open past April 11th.
/end rant because I think it is bullshit that these places close with such a large base.

P-horn always closes the first week of april I'm pretty sure its the lease because the mesa gets some epic epic snow in april. What sucks is that when they open in December everything sucks and when they close in april they have amazing snow but there's not much to do about it.

As far as skiing on NFS land goes, it's totally legal. I'm pretty sure you can even hike a ski area durin opperation and you can ski, you just can't hit rails/boxes, or anything owned by the mountain. The ski area will probably get you in trouble for using their features considering it puts them at risk.

big sky wont make "massive amounts" from being the only resort open.
by april fishing etc have kicked in, so even with only local traffic, it would be limited.
also they cant rely on snow, theyd have to push the closing date out later, and with all the foreign employees who book flights back home months ahead of time, that wouldnt work.
bridger has extended their season before, and with as warm as it gets in the spring, that 88 inch base wont be there for long.
if it dumps, we might get another day or two at great divide, they will open into may if they can.
All times are Eastern (-5)
