What is a bio/ bio spin?

I only watched the first few, but he doesn't go inverted, so technically a bio. But it's difficult to tell.

your feet go in front and to the side of you when you rodeo. bio you feet are behind you (sort of)

for instance doing a bio and spinning left. at the top of the lip of the yump you push off (forward) off your inside left ski. so you almost lunge your upper half forward when you spin. I love these and do them more than corks simply because they arnt done as much.

a lot of spins these days that some people would call rodeos are (in my eyes) actually bios. Seems like if you roll your shoulder over and drop your back where your feet also follow through in the roll over its a rodeo, so more of a flip. Other wise if you dive into the spinwithout fully rolling your shoulder over to where your feet would be above you in the flip motion it would be a bio.

Either one is dope dont get me wrong, but they are 2 different rotations on different axis`s

Exactly right, I've thought this for a few seasons.

Tim McChesney and Matt Walker are great examples of kids doing "rodeos" that 6-7 years ago would have been called bios. Also, "rodeos" over 7 look more and more like bios as the spins are set harder and harder relative to the shoulder roll or inversion.

Both Rodeo and flat looks a lot like bio.. you can tell the difference when you look at the start of the jump, if you look close you can see if he pops like a flat/rodeo or a bio. he kind of pops backwards like you do when you are going for a normal flat bow n arrow 5 and then goes in to a forward rotation. the rotation is different because it's more spin and forces you to lean forward in stead of inverted.. like the grab makes the rotation different in flat bow n arrow 5..

fuck this shits confusing. when watching a ski movie/edit, i can only legitimately point out corks, mistys, and SOMETIMES flatspins (only when i'm really sure). Somebody needs to make a video of every single flip next to each other simotaniously.

The way I tell the difference is just which way their head goes. Bios tilt down the hill like misties flip down the hill while rodeos and corks tilt/flip back up the hill.

The first edit looked like lots of rodeo 9/10s. I've always thought rodeo 5's look like a different trick than bios, but only because they were thrown harder and more spin in ratio to the flip. some people can get rodeo 7s that are super flippy and the jumps big enough that they can get the last 180 around after the rodeo 5. If everyone started to call rodeo 9/10/12 bios, i think it'd make more since. But what does a bio 5/7 look like?

And on the topic of confusing names, isnt a misty 5 and a overflip the same? pretty much? and if you go to misty 7 it's just like a rodeo 5 going to rodeo 7?

but to me a bio is a non-inverted misty, and can only be done with spins 7 and up.

what, i thought that a bio was a noninverted misty. i think that in the video those were flatspin because they were like a rodeo only not inverted.

it's an off axis spin where your head is facing towards the landing. You set it by dropping your non leading shoulder into the spin. Very similar set to a rodeo exept your hips should spin into it rather than lift up like in a rodeo.

tim's bio 9s and 10s always looked alot like rodeos to me. so heres my question: what would he do off the jump to make it rodeo axis rather than bio? and what do his rodeo 9s even look like then? if someone has a video comparing a large spin rodeo with a bio that would be sweet and helpful for everyone i think.
