Who tends to get better early season snow?

I'm the president of the ski/snowboard club at Ohio University and every December we take a trip out west. In the past we have always went to Colorado resorts but I would like to push for Park City this year to mix things up a bit. I'm curious to see if Colorado resorts tend to get better luck with the early season weather opposed to Park City. I am aware that it is mostly hit or miss but I would like to hear what you guys think. Should I stick with a Colorado resort or head out to Utah?

hmm well i have lived in utah whole life, never been to colorado. but it truly is a toss up i would say, this year was very shitty early season. also how early are you guys coming? but really i dont know, what are you going to be skiing mostly? i recall see a thread of a park somewhere in colorado early season that had a ton of jumps and rails.

I don't really know about early season in Utah, but by the end of october A-basin, Breck, and Keystone are all open and have a decent park set up. Even with the snow being so shitty this year, all three of those resorts have pretty intense snowmaking starting in september, so the conditions werent too bad. I'm not sure, but I think Utah resorts open a little bit later on.

i dont think park city was open till around november 22nd this season.

keystone had a sick ass park like november 1st or some shit like that.

Our mountain had a phenomenal season.

Bigwhite, BC.

We opened up in mid November with good conditions and weekly dumps of snow.

colorado has the advantage because they blow more snow than someone like PC does, and starts much earlier.

with pc you could be SET if they have a good early season, but with CO resorts like abasin, breck, etc, it doesnt matter, because if nature doesnt provide it, they will.

Utah is hit or miss early season, I wouldent book a vacation to Park City durring that time. I 'am sure there would most likely be stuff open but not as much as other places...I would check out Interior Western Canadia like Sunshine or Lake Louise not Whistler ....avoid places like Jackson Hole who might get a good amount of early season snow but takes 250 intch for alot of the lines to fill in since its so rocky there...

when i say early season i mean we will most likely ski december 13th-17th. so the conlusion of this thread is to pretty much stick with the colorado resorts?

yea CO is a lot higher in elevation then UT, so we start blowing snow much earlier. and early season is about who sets up the best park first, and that is always in CO, whether that be key or breck.
