WOODSTOCK, GA -- Patrick Molesti, 56 of Woodstock was captured in Thunder Bay, Canada Friday night by Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Molesti has been on the run since March 18 when investigators with the Cherokee County Sheriff Office served a search warrant at his home.
Molesti was charged with sexually exploiting children after Investigators say they found child pornography on his computer. Investigators also found evidence on his computer that he was trying to buy a 5-year old boy online.
The Sheriff Office said Molesti was captured with the help of the United States Marshal's Office, the United States Secret Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Investigators say they tracked Molesti to a location in Wyoming and learned he boarded a bus Friday bound for Calgary, Alberta. Lieutenant Jay Baker said under cover agents with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police boarded the bus Friday evening while it was making a fuel stop in Thunder Bay. Molesti was taken into custody without incident, Baker said.
Molesti is wanted for one count of Sexual Exploitation of Children. Lt. Baker said more charges are likely in the coming days. He said there is not a definitive time when Molesti will be returned to Cherokee County.
On Monday, Lt. Baker said Investigators believed Molesti was armed and dangerous. They put an alert out to Customs and Immigration authorities because Molesti is French National.
Though Molesti is accused of trying to buy a child on the internet, Lt. Baker said he didn't believe that a specific child had yet to be targeted.
