Why was this edited out?

In the Biggie verse in Jay-z's "A Dream," they edited out "world trade" in his line that goes "Time to get paid, blow up like the World Trade." Wasn't Biggie referring to the world trade as like a global market? Or was he referring to the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center? Or did Biggie just predict the shit out of 9/11?

At the time that he wrote and used the lyrics, it was right after the first WTC bombing, and that is what he was referring to. But because this song came out after 9/11 they didn't want to get the two confused and get people pissed off. So it was edited out.

it amazes me that this has to be explained. but then i forget that anyone who doesnt know was probably 6 when that album came out.

anyone remember that thread where someone asked if Biggie predicted the 9-11 attacks? i think it was from last summer.

I know it's all "politically correct" and all that shit, but I don't think that should have been edited out. It's not foul language or anything of that sort. Just my opinion.

I agree with this post.

I think it was a sad and terrible time for America but at the same time it does not need to be edited out. We need to move on and stop crying and living in the past.

It annoys me as well. Now if we were to say that being in the World Trade Center was a 100% safe, and then when you finally step in it, and it gets hit with a plane, that is ironic. But i have come to one solution, censorship is pointless, the media is not half as bad with these things as what is said in a High School by the students, it is just another way for the United States government to get citizens to hate them.
