I bought these brand new in plastic at the beginning of this season directly from Mike Schneider (surface's founder) I got them mounted up with look px12's and started skiing. Never skied them very hard at all. The first month was great but then about a month in i noticed the left ski was a little rockered and it was chattering a bit. I was like "what the hey?" so i just kept skiing. They were still skiing great and had nothing wrong really. No hard crashes nothing.
Now we get to today. 1 1/2 feet of fresh and i'm loving it. Skiing awesome and loved the butteryness of the watch lifes. We found a 10-15 footer drop over some trees super mellow soft landing. Never even crashed on it all day. So then we're skiing on a different run and i go off a little 5 foot jump drop land in the powder and when i get down to the flat part i was on 1 ski and did a little somersault, didn't jam my tips in nothing my skis were fine.
So i get up and start skiing away on the flat with my friend and was hearing *crkkk, crkkk, crkkk. so I'm like "the fuck?" and i look down and my left ski's tip is bent up a superb amount and i'm like "Uh that's not good what the fuck did i do?" and so i take of my ski and notice a little bubble in the top sheet right and the point it bends up and i'm like "ohhhh fuuuuuck!" and then i clip back in to get to the bottom of the lift (like 100 yards away) and then *CRACK!!!* and this was the aftermath.
so now i'm like fuck. I go show some of my friends later in the night once i get home and we remove the bindings on both skis and scott flex's the "good" ski and he's like "oh fuck those are buttery!" and we look and right in the same spot there is a bubble thing going across the topsheet signifying a crack in the core. We also discovered that the bases were super thin in the tip and tail.
now this would be very odd if it was a bad mount job that cracked the ski because it happened in both skis. There is no edge damage and the damage point so this is very odd. Our thoughts were bad cores. These were made at the time surface's were being made in california.
Any Help?
