MHSSC vs. Windells

We all obviously know that Windells is superior, but if you all were given the choice between 2 sessions at mhssc or 1 session at Windells, which would you take? And which place would you most likely learn more?

You will learn more at your level with mhssc, the coaches will help you personally improve your style, and help you get tricks that youve been jonesin for.

this is more of a MHSSC question.
im going there 5 and 6 and i don't skateboard but i would like to learn there. what should i do, should i buy one and bring it to do or just try and mooch off kids?

mhssc has the illest jump lines and super fun jibs.  Way less crowds and no lines.  Hiking one feature not only helps the ravishing midriff for the ladies, but also helps you focus on the trick you're goin for

some food for thought...pretty much EVERY windles ski coach hikes mhssc on their days off.  why wouldnt they hike their own park?  easy...mhssc has way better jumps

The main reason that would make me go to Windells is either the coaching, or the air bag. That thing looks like the coolest most educating thing I have ever seen. In my opinion, after a few hits with the air bag you will improve so much on snow.

I'll be 100% honest and tell you there's nothing those guys can teach that would can't, and just because someone is a great skier doesn't always mean they're a great coach. and the bag is ILL no doubt but its also not always open and stupid busy when it is. if that helps

MHSSC. Cheaper, cool people. Windells is probably cool but I would go to mhssc just for the sake of the price.

I think windells is in the upper $1900 range. And with the cost of flying, that $900+ makes a huge difference for me. I want to go next summer but I'll have just turned 18. Can I still go during regular camp time or will I have to go to the adult session?

There is an adult camp at windells. Pretty much you just do different things. It's still part of every session I think. You can get sessions at around 1500. Maybie less. Transportation is a real killer though. It would be like 500 to fly from NC

Is it cheaper out of there? Charlotte is always expensive. I'm thinking about trying to get a job at a camp out at hood next summer so I can at least be out there. haha

I'm of the opinion that if you're old enough (16+) and not breast fed, then you could go with some buddies and ski all summer for the fraction of the cost of ski camp. And by all summer I mean all bloody summer if you really, REALLY wanted to get better. The cost alone is almost unjustifiable. $1500+ (windells pricing) for the camp alone (plus airfare) usually ends up exceeding $2k. Thats a shitload for one week of skiing. Hell, I'm looking at $2500 for ~6 weeks in Asia, if not longer. But, people need to ski, and most kids cant go on their own to the promise land, so camps are a good gig.

Most of what has been said is pretty spot on. Both camps have good employees (in my experience as a non-camper) and are really chill. The camper attitude at windells is more pretentious (but not nearly as much as HCSC) than MHSSC, which makes a big deal. But... MHSSC is cheaper, situated at govy (short rides to timberline), usually solid park, and the coaches (gasp) really coach. WIndells does have BOB and that painful airbag, but damn you pay for it (like $800 more or some shit in the peak sessions). Get the bang for your buck and go with MHSSC.

well said, i have talked to many people who have tried camping all summer. and basically you have no choice but to transform into a gypsy.lol
MHSSC is best choice for that age range also.

yeah dude MHSSC is deff the way to go, cheep,plus you can do camper-staff/CIT when your not quite old enough to be a full worker there but still wanna shred for a good deal. windells doesnt even have a program like that at all. i talked to tim windell himself and he said that they just couldnt manage the program. it sick because you get to chill with a whole bunch of different types of people, i mean what other camp has:
-ski free style
-snowboard freestyle
-ski racing
-snowboard racing
-AND ski moguls

that happens at no other camp up here, and the last two there are barely any camps for at all.
and i personally think that the scetchyness of MHSSC is teh best part, everyone is just so damn chill there i love it, theres no other place in the world as chill :)
i even live near hood all year(bout half hour from t-line) but still pay/work to stay up at MHSSC cause the coaching is some of the best, and you cant get that kind of experiance anywhere else. and your not worrying about what everyone else is thinking about you your just focused on learning while your there. low pressure

side note: that kid who broke his femur because of the tramp? he was prolly doing the same stupid thing like the kids when i was there and running off the platform and jumping on to the tramp trying to pull 3's and crap and land flat on the dirt, just sayin.

MHSSC is bomb. GO THERE

mhssc doesn't have a lift/towrope/t bar...but hiking builds character and lets you focus more on whatever you're trying to do.

MHSSC does not have a t bar of rope tow. BUT it depends when you are planning on coming in the summer.
MHSSC's terrain park is situated right above the public terrain park at Timberline. SO if you are planning on going in june,july, snow is usually good and you can lap the two parks, skiing all the way to the bottom, using the timberline lifts. This is what the coaches will usually do with their groups.
Later in the summer, when there isnt enough snow to lap the lifts, yes, you do hike, but when you are trying to new tricks, hiking helps you focus on em.
If all the windells pros come and hike MHSSC's jumps on their off days, you can too!

So windells has a busy tow and MHSSC doesnt have one at all? hmmm i think ill take the busy tow rope....
but what i would like to know is how many features each have... in all the vidoes ive seen windells seems to have quite a few more features and more creative rails (i.e a sick flat rail and a sick down rail is essential but what else is there? any thing new?

Sounds good. To anyone ELSE By busy i mean you could hike our two line as fast as you could lap windells two line on the rope last summer, between the lift line and the overall crazyness of the park over there its not any faster. And nah we dont have castle rails or cereal bowls or anything like that we just have a bunch of interchangable boxes and a super nice couple of rails that dont have ten minute lines to hit them.
