I really, really need your help

I just got an hv30 and am trying to get the shots onto Final cut pro 5 i believe. I have uploaded shots before to final cut, but this just wont work. I have it plugged in, turned on, and i hit log and capture, and it says it cant find the device. Do i need to change the settings?

Also, when i put my go pro HD footage in final cut, it takes forever to render. like an hour for a minute video, any suggestions?

I already uploaded the hv30 footage to iMovie and then transferred it to FCP but it keeps saying the footage is offline, and its a pain to keep turning it back on. Not sure what to do about it.

I'd like to just upload footage straight to final cut, cause the iMovie process was slow.

was the camera plugged in and turned on before you started Final Cut?

Turn camera on and in playback mode, plug it in to the computer, turn fcp on, log and capture.
