Replying to Tough decision regarding work
im an ECE major and i currently work at the lab for atmospheric and space physics at CU boulder mainly in mission operations and data systems. good job, good pay, nothing to complain about. i am currently working on the design, test, and building of the microprocessor/comm architecture for the remote sensing package on the MAVEN mars mission scheduled to launch in 2013. I have also been trying to go storm chasing for quite some time and tonight i was enjoying free beer and box seats at the mammoth game with a few guys, one of whom is a Ph D student in aerospace (has BS and MS in ECE and MS in aero too but not relevant). anyway, after being the nerds that we are and talking he offered me a higher paying job to work on the embedded systems of an unmanned aircraft that he flies into tornadoes. This would mean that i get paid to go storm chasing over the summer. This job sounds way more interesting than everything but my MAVEN work right now (MAVEN makes up less that 25% of what i do). but i am getting extremely valuable experience in VHDL right now and i dont know what to do. what would you do in this situation?
