Summer camp prices

How do you guys afford summer camps? I was looking at the prices and plus airfare it is over 2k. Does everyone who goes just have rich parents?

Ya i work all summer, but my budget already consists of winter lift tickets and equipment. After that I can't afford it

I saved for so long and made a deal with my parents and am paying half, and by no means are my parents rich

Hey Dude,

A lot of our campers save up for the whole camp, some split it with their parents or have their parents cover a bulk of the cost and they cover the rest. What you need to do is research negotiation tactics on the internet, then sit down with your parents and test out your new found skills. Also, come to the table wth some leverage, like better grades, increasing your chores or something like that. That gives you a little bargaining power that if worked correctly, can go a long way!

Good luck and with a name like the "Thewizard", you should be able to work some magic!

I worked a shitty job for 3 months sorting freight to pay for going to chile with evolve chile. I paid about 1250 (1700 to go) of my the trip and my parents used points for my flight. I thought it was a good deal. Then they decided they had enough money to got to chile for their 25th wedding anniversary so it was a win-win situation.

Bingo. This summer at MHSSC I'm paying for two weeks and then working for two weeks. When I'm working, all I have to pay for is lift tickets. It's a great deal.

Great decision.
MHSSC has a camper staff option, where you can do the dishes and only pay for lift tickets that week. But you have to have already gone to a full paid week this summer before you work a week.

Some people are lucky and have wealthy parents, but generally I would say having you own job is how it's done.

Also, Ohio Dreams is only $850 for a week compared to the other camps. Sure it's not on snow, but with water ramps, a tramp, and a rail setup you can still learn a ton of stuff.

I recently started saving up to pay half a season pass, new skis, and half of windells for next year I'm hoping I can get that money working all summer. My parents make me pay half fir almost everything , I consider myself really lucky
