seeing it's not directly underfoot, i think that a decent shoptech might be able to epoxy that shit up so it still holds up decently....

but how did you do that?
thats one nasty base "scratch" :)

I can't tell it the edge is pulled over the base or the base is just not there...if it's the 2nd, p-tex will do, if its the first, I don't know...

i have no idea.
one day i looked at it. and the base was just peeling, and then later that day i cought on edge and it completely just ripped a chunk from it.

maybe if you epoxy it and the the edges are intact

It is repairable I've made much worse look almost new, its very hard to make a serious repair completely unnoticeable.  First the edge will have to be straightened or replaced, then anchored with epoxy and edge screws, and then depending on core exposure either base welded or epoxied and welded.

Any shop tech with edge pieces, base patches, epoxy, and skill can fix that.  It's might be a little pricey but it's better than buying new skis if you don't have the money.  Take em' a case of beer and I bet you'll get a discount.

For serious "wounds" like this it's best to take it to the shop. I had a core shot bigger than that directly underfoot and p-texed it 3 times in a row and every time it either cracked and fell out or just strait up fell out. I took it to the shop and they base welded it and its held up fine for a season and a half, even with it directly underfoot and hitting rails

i know this is going to sound like a stupid question. but does p-tex actually work? i have a couple of p-text sticks at home. it feels like once you hit the snow the dried p-tex will just rub off wont it? and sorry to the thread creator for the steal.

in my experience if you have a big gouge or core shot it just cracks and falls out if you do it your self. It might be something to do with added carbon because its burning
