Will the reality show Sarah Palin's Alaska actually become a reality? It certainly seems like it, as reports are stating that the Discovery Channel will pay north of $1 million per episode but nothing is set in stone yet.
The series has been pitched around town since early March by Palin and producer Mark Burnett, the man behind Survivor and The Apprentice. Billed as a program about the state of Alaska seen through Palin's eyes, in the vein of Discovery's Planet Earth.
Meetings with ABC, CBS, and NBC proved unsuccessful, so the two turned to cable, where they found Discovery and A&E to be very receptive to the idea. A&E reportedly dropped out of the running, leaving Discovery the victor.
Palin has been elevated to TV celebrity status lately, a status she seems to be handling well. Palin recently signed to be an analyst for the Fox News Channel, and appeared earlier this month on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, doing stand-up comedy.
