Can Rossignol FKS bindings adjust?

I have just bought a pair of rossignol fks 140. I had them mounted to fit my boot that I have right now not thinking about next year. I will probably need a bigger boot next year. I looked on the bindings and saw no adjustment to slide the binding back for a bigger boot. Can you adjust the bindings or not? If you cant what do you do if your boots wont fit in your bindings? Will I have to remount them? thanks

yup, one of their only flaws. you could ask your shop to put in heli coils though

They can be adjusted but not as much as other bindings, they have arms on both sides of the bindings and you tighten them to adjust them. You might get 2 mondo sizes adjustment lenth if your lucky.

wear are the arms? so if i want to adjust them or fit them to a bigger boot i have to remount them? is remounting bad?

It's actually only one size total, so depending on how they were mounted, you can get 1 size bigger (so like a 27 to a 28), if they're in the middle you can go a half size either way (so if it's at 27, you can adjust for a 26.5 or 27.5). They are adjusted by turning the "coverings" on the arms that connect the release lever to the baseplate, it requires a wrench or pliers to do.

well right now there fine. but next year i will probably have a boot that will be a couple sizes bigger. will i have to remount them? is that bad for the skis?

~10mm adjustment, so it will depend how they are set for your current BSL.

BSL = Boot Sole Length, it's the length of the sole of your boot measured in millimeters, this tells you how wide your bindings are mounted.

DIN Setting = A number that corresponds to the tightness of the spring that release your boot from your binding during a fall, the higher the number the more pressure required for a release. (has nothing to do with adjusting for a bigger boot size other than different BSLs change your DIN setting sometimes, but it doesn't make your bindings "bigger").

BSL is Boot Sole Lenth which refers to the running lenth of your boot is, even though boots have the same size liner, it doesn't mean that they are the same lenth as each other. DIN refers to the measurement of the release force it takes for a skier to eject out of his bindings. The bigger and better the skier the higher up they would set thier DIN.

ohh ok. well thanks for explaining. has anyone remounted there bindings? is it bad for the skis and does it leave holes?

Yes if it is done right it leaves holes, It shouldn't mess them up if you mounted them twice but I would stop there. The more holes your ski has the worse the ski gets. But I would ask the tech thats mounting them to mount them with Heli coils.

They give the screws better hold into the ski and make it allmost impossible for the binding to rip out of the ski http://tognar.com/binding_tools_boot_canting_glue_ski_snowboard.html

Don't bring them to a shop until you buy your boots... they'll let you know if they can be adjusted or if they need to be remounted. Helicoils are like little metal inserts that go into the screw hole of your skis and lock in so the hole can be reused, these are used if you have a pull-out (binding starts to or fully rips out of the ski). As long as you have a wooden core ski (most men skis are now) you'll be fine with remounting and wont need helicoils cause they're drill brand new holes and fill in the old ones.

You could do that but If I were to have those bindings mounted on a good pair of skis I would take every Precaution for the bindings not to rip out so basically it cant hurt anything, they might cost $5 but its worth it.

this!!!!  cant stress enough.  check the bsl on your current boots (usually will say it on the heels, a number prolly between 250 mm and 320 mm) and scope the bsl on whatever your new boots will be.  take the new stuff to the shop and have them check.  avoid putting an extra set of holes in whenever possible

yes they are, they have a wood core, but think about it, if you have a set of holes with nothing in it, it becomes a weak point, the more holes the weaker the ski...no matter what ski it is, that's why you want to wait till you're SURE you need to remount.

they will fill the old ones when you go for a remount. you might get away with another shell size bigger though. keep your fingers crossed.

Now I'm confused, you keep talking about holes - aren't there screws in those holes right now...

If you're talking about AFTER you remount - a shop tech will take care of EVERYTHING, you don't need to worry about it...that's why you're paying them.

Or you can just mount the bindings yourself, its alot easier then what everyone thinks. If you dont trust the shop tech then mount them yourself and save money. Where I live its $40 and I'm tired of wasting money. Just an idea.. If your comftable with it then do it

unless he doesn't know what he's doing...and unless he happens to have a jig, it's fairly difficult to do...

Also, it voids most warranties, I'd much rather put it in the hands of a shop tech, pay the $30-$50 to make sure it's done right - I just make sure it's a legit shop and give them very detailed instructions.

I have 3 pairs of factions all with pivot 14's mounted center on the line for a Krypton Pro 2 ID (27.5 / 316 bsl).

i want to go down to a 308 bsl which overall would be an 8mm difference from my current boots.

I have the bindings mounted center with the adjustment arms so equal adjustment range forward and back.

I have seen people say there is only +/-7 mm adjustment total meaning -3.5mm up or +3.5mm back.

Then I have heard people say you can go up or down a mondo size (which is around +/- 8mm difference up or back).

So what is the real answer? I don't want to buy these other boots if I have to re-drill all (3) skis which is a PIA.

Total adjustment is 14mm, which means 7mm up, 7mm back, or +/- 7mm.

I was in the same situation last year, bought the boots at risk of remount. This risk is significant because you'll likely have to change your mount location, which to some is also big deal. Anyway, shop screwed the binding arms down all the way, and passed the release test. definitely sus because they're past the adjustment lines, but I haven't had problems riding 50 + days since.
