Hey all, so today my Religion professor goes on a rant as usual, but this time instead of talking about religion, he talks about a religion conference and the plane ride back from Oregon he went on this weekend. He said that at the conference he sat next to a young guy(about 30) who was on his laptop and looking up stuff on the internet instead of being involved in the critiquing of other theologian essays.
so... My prof says that on the plane ride he sat next to a father and his son. He said that the only time they interacted with eachother was when the son had to go to the bathroom, when he needed a drink from the flight attendant, and when he wanted to watch a movie on his Dad's laptop. Meanwhile, during the whole flight the Dad is playing some game on most likely an iTouch or iPhone. My prof said that the way our generation acts nowadays dehumanizes the soul. And by that he meant that looking at a screen like I am doing right now takes away quality human-human interaction that is so important in the development of kids into adulthood. I don't know about you guys, but agreed with him %100. Our generation has turned into garbage, as all we want to think about is the next time we can check our facebook, or NS, or watch TV, listen to music, just about any kind of electronic usage that distracts us from the true meaning of life. As I see the generations behind me, I start to think that what he's saying is right, and we are headed down a dark path if we continue our continually changing habits. I don't know about you all, but that's how I feel. At the end my prof concluded with, "Now that's my bitch, what's yours"
Sparknotes: Religion prof ranted about how electronic screens dehumanize the soul, and our generation has turned into shit.
