Originally, this cover on RS was supposed to have Jimi Hendrix. After Shaun won the gold, the editors decided to change it to him. Whoever decides the layout/design of the covers liked the idea of meshing the two together.

Besides, Shaun white is a bigger rockstar than the entire ski community combined. Yes, we get it, you would blow your dad just to have someone in the ski industry as big and popular as White, but it doesn't mean you have to find any little excuse to hate on him.

enough of the tomato clown already..first you would think that the tomato and drama queen vonn were the only people competing according to nbc.talk about overhype.then the buffon is platered all over a supposed rock and roll rag.did anyone ever consider a big factor the tomato is the best snowboarder is due to fact that about only a cupl thousand people in the entire world have even attempted it?

^^^^   freeride skiing has been accepted into the olympics as of 2 days ago in a vote in germany i belive

so it wont be long until people know of freeride skiing

I respect the guy as an athlete, and even though I still think he's a cocky SOB, it's not "blind hate" as you put it.

uhh guys, if you ever heard of terry richardson and knew his style, it would explain a lot about the photo.

he pushes the limit thats what he gets paid for.  and a good photog, gets the model to do things they might not.  i would bet my life that shaun didn't suggest this idea to terry.

You guys realize he has pretty much no say in what the photographer's vision is right? Depending on the contract, sometimes you can't say no. Either way. Stupid cover. Great publicity. Seems to be the trend in america these days.
