he has tricks yes, but i feel like many other entries had him beat style wise. granted style is totally subjective, but i just feel like he still lacks control. im not looking for thug steeze, i just think that a lot of what he does he doesnt really look in control, it looks very hucked.

yup, sw 10 dub cork mute held through 90% of the rotation is "hucked" and not in "control"... Also fyi any of those jumps in any of those edits are no bigger then 55 feet, kinda hard to compare entries when the of the entries are hitting 80 foot perfect tables...

as i said, its opinion. you may not agree. thats the beauty of opinion.

but he should not get a handicap because hes only hitting small jumps. tornivinen made it out to windells to hit big stuff. if he hasnt made it somewhere to film big jumps im sorry, but too bad. if anything thats another reason he SHOULDNT be SU, since i have a feeling hitting 90+ footers like mammoth superpark had last year is rather out of his comfort zone.

hes good, but hes not going to win SU. and honestly im more turned off of him by every one of you kids that refuses to see reason. i understand hyping your homie from your home mountain, but the fact of the matter is theres other kids that are much better than him.

I kind of agree, but I wonder if that's more a function of his only getting shots on really small park features. It's hard to throw a right cork 10 on a 25 ft. jump and make it look smooth and natural. I can't decide if I like his style or not. It IS refreshing to see some aggression,or urgency in his skiing as opposed to all these kids trying hard to look like they're b

Also, I hate that people are still doing the, "You can't have an opinion, because he's better than YOU!" thing.

true. but i feel like its not aggressive as much as just spinning really fast. someone like walker is aggressive, but you can tell he still has total control over whats going on.

idk i feel like laker just lacks the flavor of some of the other entries, the personal twist. no hate to the kid, hes got sick tricks, and im sure when he gets old enough to make it out west he will blow up HUGE, i just dont think hes SU level yet.

and i really do think that my point in my last post is overlooked. the biggest jump at PN is what, 55 foot?

that step down at mammoth last year was over 100. and the stepover at the sunset shoot was 90, taken well beyond that. if all this kid is hitting is 55 footers, is he really ready for something of that magnitude?


and chris, i dont care about the "hes better than you" kid. im content with my skiing ability, if hes not, thats his problem.

I honestly believe that someone with Chris's talent level is totally capable of hitting a Level 1 sized jump whether he has before or not (note that a lot of his midwest groupies insist that he has hit jumps that size, true or not). He's obviously got insane athletic talent, balls, and air awareness...with those gifts, a 90 ft. jump vs. a 55 ft. jump just means a longer in run and skipping the speed checks, right?

I thought this illest edit entry was really good...that said, Laker would not be my pick for SU. Either way, Chris is progressing at a crazy rate and will be a force in the near future on the competition scene, if not the filming scene. Maybe both, though, because someone will have to give this kid a chance to do work on a slushy jump at a spring shoot.

While I don't know that he has hit 100 foot jumps, he's competed at Mt. Snow, the Dumont Cup, Aspen Open, and all of those jumps range from 70 to maybe 85-90, so he is definitely capable of hitting them and doing stuf over them.

In my opinion, which is probably a bit biased because I film him and ride with him a lot, I think the amount of progression both trick wise and style wise that he's had in the past couple years is out of control. When he gets in the zone, he can do just about anything he puts his mind too. I dunno if he'll win SU or not, but hopefully someone picks him up for filming because hes a good kid who deserves it.

all of them had STYLE. brogan especially wasnt throwing dub corks etc, but he has FLAVOR, whether you like it or not. i just feel like laker lacks the flavor that SU is all about.

sure you have an oppinion but it's pretty lame when you base it off of this one edit with out doing a little further research...especially when you're completely fucking wrong....for example watch in this edit at 50 seconds laker is in yellow pants grey hoodie...prime example of why he should be filming on big jumps with level 1....fat sw cork 5 into dub 12..which by the way he threw on the last jump 2nd run styly as fuck

WRONG.  I'm guessing he wouldn't be nearly as good if he came from a bigger hill. the fact that his crappy hill gets him 4 minute laps, and prolly stays open till 10pm every night is why he is so damn good...  i don't know about you, but my hill is open from 9-4 and i'm lucky to get 3 laps in an hour the lifts are so god damn god awfulll...  so, i credit his success to that "shitty little hill" as you all call it.  when what you all should be callin it is "prime training facility"

You have obviously never skied park in the midwest...Ice hurts to fall on and it is scary doing tricks when the landing is pure ice. Also I am sure everyone who skis at P north would rather hit Breck or Keystone features with 10min lift rides instead of only like 3 features in a run with 5min lift rides.

But about Laker...He is insane, throws down hard in person and his style is unique to him. I dunno if he is really the super thugged out style though that Level 1 seems to love. I feel like Laker would fit much better with PBP.

Also that would be cool to see a really hesh dude on Level 1 like Max Hill or Paco since L1 only has Will Wesson and his segments always blow my mind.

Laker is pretty sick.  Whether you like his style or not is your own opinion, but you cant argue that a dub cork on a 55 footer stomped isn't sick.  Both cork tens (left and right), such a dope accomplishment.  SU isn't up to us, but he is a sick skier and thus why he made it to the finals of SU.  He has control of his tricks in the air, shown by grabs he held, and stomped, and come on, you have to have control to land dubs so thats just an invalid argument.

Also, it doesn't matter if you ride hood, PC, Whistler, or PNS, if you have tallent it will show, and that it does.

Not hating on anyone, but he does have style, whether you like it or not, and it shows in his SU, thus making the finals.  Very commendable accomplishments that deserve some respect.

tanner coutlers edit should win for sure. its an illest edit contest, not how many hucked tricks you can cram into 3 minutes. yeah the place hes filming at is to his disadvantage, but for this contest i think there are better ways to enter than just switching around shots from your superunknown entry.

yeah. everyone has style. i just personally dont like his, and i think his style shows a lack of control/precision.

and i really am not looking for thug steeze.

brogan shows control with everything he does.
walker does with his aggressive stomp steeze
sammy does with his pokes.
jon does with his robot steeze
etc.

they are all very different styles but all exhibiting precision and total control over the trick. whereas while obviously chris has control, you have to to throw dubs, i at least dont see the precision and personal twist with him that i do with previous superunknown winners, and many this year as well.

he may grab etc, but he lacks the flavor some of the other edits have.
