Accident at Loon Mtn.

Today at Loon I was in the gondola line when a snow mobile came screaming into the first aid station with a sled in tow. His shirt was already torn open and they started doing chest compressions. Does anyone know what happened to him? It kind threw off the whole day.

wow sounds scary. I HATE seeing bad accidents when I'm skiing because it freaks me out so much and I never want to try anything.

I def know he wrecked. He tumbled from the top of lower flume all the way to the bottom into some trees. Prob a good 200 yards. Im just wondering if he survived.

from the top to the bottom of lower flume? idk if thats possible but still sounds scary as shit. i remember a couple of years back when a guy overshot that volcano jump and died in the park

yeah at the time, my coaches good friend died on tombstone a couple years back. then there was the angel street triple death which was really fucked. i feel as though loon has a death a year, its pretty scary shit. I hope the guys okay

I believe this was when it was a super icy day. One guy ducked the rope and fell slid down and couldn't stop himself, he hit a tree and dies. Then his buddy went down and fell and slid into the trees, dead. Then their third buddy went down and the same thing happened to him.

Its When things like that happen that you should stop and think about the ski patrol doing the best they can to save someones life. Regardless whether it was medical or trauma related he was in the best possible hands at that time.  Yes there are some doucher patrollers out there but when shit hits the majority of them are highly trained and skilled professionals. Its not easy doing CPR or managing a airway in a toboggan or being pulled behind a sled. (Iv done it, its not enjoyable)

So yea they may give you shit at times, but if you wreck, they are not gonna be like "oh this guy was a S*$%T Head, im not helping him"

Prayers go out to the guy getting worked on, and RIP if the worst happened.

it was something like a father uncle and son skiing on ice coast snow. The top of angel street was pow ish (because of snowdrift) and the uncle ducked the rope. He slipped on ice and hit the trees all the way down below. The dad went down to help him and same thing happened to him, and then the son same thing. It was back in the 90s but still its pretty scary.

some lady died snow tubing at loon a couple of years ago....so many people have died at that mountain it's kinda scary

The Gentleman at Loon Mountain did die yesterday. He was a good in shape and someone who was a good skier... He is a Father of 5 Beautiful children and also a good Husband. A person who would help anyone and be there for you if you needed someone. A classy person. Please try to refrain from any stupid or idoitic comments. A friend of mine for 40 years and he did not deserve to go at thsi young age. Be careful out there and do cherish every moment you have with family and friends.

I was on the North Peak express quad yesterday (Friday) and I saw this happen. I watched him slide down the entire lower flume run, it was on my mind all day and I was praying that he was ok. I am so saddened to find this online, my prayers go out to his family especially his children. I have two young kids myself and the thought of those poor children loosing their father is so upsetting. Life is precious and fragile, this could happen to anyone of us at anytime.

not really sure what to make of this....

usually a death at a mountain is in the news, and there has been absolutely nothing about it. Not even a headline or anything. And it's only been confirmed by members who just joined? If a good friend had just died, would you immediately think to join NS and tell people?

This is my first post, I have never been to this website before. My friend who was on the chairlift with me emailed this post to me and I read the friend of the guy who fells post. Something I did not put in my previous post was that we went up the chair a second time and saw them doing CPR on the edge of the trees. Although I was hoping to find nothing online as no news is good news this is what I found. I am so upset by the thought of this that I was compelled to post something. Again, thoughts and prayers to his family...

Peter Albano, son of former State Senator Sal Albano and brother of current State Senate candidate Michael Albano, died in a tragic skiing accident in New Hampshire yesterday morning.

He is survived his wife, Leanne, and their 5 children Salvatore, 12, Andrea, 10, Angelina, 9, Elena, 7, and Allesandra, 5. The Albano campaign said in a statement that Peter “was Michael’s brother, best friend, and an integral part of the campaign.”

Peter Albano was born and raised in Somerville, MA. He was a graduate of UMass Amherst, earned a Masters in Education form UMass Lowell, and an MBA from the Olin School of Business at Babson College. Peter was a small business owner who lived in Bradford, MA.

wowsers! almost saw this on sunday at mt snow, a snowboarder riding way to close to the edge of the trail lost control and tumbled within inches of smashing into a tree, he got up and blessed himself!kinda scary to think, but speeking from experience its maaaaaad ez to die skiing, like driving almost! i hit a tree a sugarloaf by myself in the glades and shattered my radius, had emergency surgery, a plate with 6 screws and severe nerve damage! vibes to the family esp those poor kids!

I never post in threads like this but for some reason I feel compelled to offer condolences to the man in this thread.  I mean the guy didn't duck a rope, he had 5 kids, an MBA, seemingly productive member of society, just sad this had to happen, I feel terrible for his kids.

I've seen dead people and people being revived at mountains before. Shit is always crazy scary. Makes you realize how dangerous just skiing down a trail with trees on both sides is, let alone hitting the park.

my home mtn has like 15000 people skiing on a crowded day. and they say 1-2 deaths occur every year. one was kinda recently, idk, 4 weeks ago or so, some guy managed to jump into a river from a flat part of the slope, no speed or anything and broke his neck, and i know one guy died from a heart attack a while ago.

it just happens. a lot of people = a lot of possible accidents. this leads to at least some fatal accidents. still sad when you see it...

but i never heard of a park related death in my area.

ya... when i was about 12 I saw an accident. A snowboarder had jumped on cattrack without looking he landed on a skier... killed him. I skied after that just happend... I was prob one of the last people to see him alive and it turns out its my good friends little brother never knew till a month ago. The ski patroller were crying they were continuously doing cpreven on the tobagon ride down... The image still haunts me
