How much should a new wheel bearing cost?

My wheel bearing is shot in my car (2002 Mitsubishi Lancer) and I need to get it replaced. I am going to get estimates, but I want to have an average price to compare them to. My moms car had to have it done a few years ago but we can't remember how much it cost. Anyone know, or have it don recently?

Its the front wheel.
The car is front wheel drive too if that makes a difference

id like to know this as well, or at least a similar situation

my dad needs to have all(?) of his wheel bearings replaced and he was quoted upwards of $2000

is that reasonable?

that's about right after labor. $500 per wheel is pretty standard - at least from what I've seen.

From my research, it is not a good price. Unless your dad has a rare/expensive car it should not be that much. Obviously cars like BMWs and stuff have more expensive parts and take people that know about them so more expensive cars will cost more.
But, as the guy said a couple posts above, it should be $50-$80 + labor per bearing. Labor being somewhere around $60-$90 an hour and expect an hour or two per bearing.

my dads grand caravan's rear bearing was $210. that might have included labor but its still a lot of money.

Yeah the parts can be found cheap. It has to be pressed in and I sure as hell don't have the proper equipment to do that. The labor is where the cost is I guess.

Broken wheel bearing + replacement axle for a scored axle on my 2003 Jeep Liberty cost me $750.

First mechanic told me nothing was wrong and that the noise my car was making was just some normal wear that would go away.

Second mechanic called me and first mechanic retards.

thats what i thought, he drives a 2003 ford explorer, and $2000 sounds ridiculous, unless there is a bunch of other work that has to be done?
