I got 3 questions....
1: I got my bindings mounted not centered.... is there any way to remount or am I fucked?
2: Centered is a lot better for rails, right? Would not centered somehow be better for jumps??
3: Any tips on doing rails not centered??
You would have to re-drill the bindings to make them center. If they are not that far off, its not that big of a deal, especially if you are just starting out.
Not all skis are meant to be center mounted. You should find out where core center is and mount them there. It will make them more balanced on rails and in the air. You can take your skis to a shop to get remounted if you don't know how to do it yourself.
well your not fucked by any means, mounting at recommended will work, u can have them remounted almost definitely. you by no means have to have the ski center mounted to make rails and jumps easy. in reality you should put your ski on a table and look at the sidecut wherever it is the highest point is going to be the balance point of that ski, usually not center unless the ski is symmetrical so in reality mounting some where between center and recommended will give you the best performance overall.
most pros mount around -2 so see if your shop can do that for you and you should be happy otherwise ski them at recommended they will ski fine there too
Don't get all hung up on where they are mounted. You will save yourself a lot of headaches. As long as they are not WAY WAY back on the tails like -18cm from center. However if you are USED to having center mounted skis then you might want to redrill them because the swing weight will be different than you're used to. Otherwise don't sweat it.
you can always get them remounted to center... and I think the only thing you have to worry about when centering a ski that wasn't meant to be mounted there is that the carving and such is thrown off... since the sidecut wasn't designed for that and all... but I'm probably wrong. I for one always ride my park skis center...
