A pair of buddies and I have just recently started a band and we have written two tracks and a teaser in the past 2 months or so. With school going on, we jam once a week, it's a laid back fun environment. Come summertime we definitely plan on jamming and recording a lot more.

Midi Keyboard run through Ableton giving us plenty of synth and string options and variety
We use Battery for Drum loops.
Miscellaneous Maracas and Tambourines and everything in between
