East coast summer skiing!

My home hill Chicopee Ski Club is conducting a study on whether there is a general interest in being converted into an all-year skiing facility with Snowflex. Most of you have never even heard of Chicopee, It's located at about one hour away from Toronto Ontario. Please do the survey that is located on the following link to make sure they're aware of the great interest: http://www.discoverchicopee.com/index.php/media/info/summer_skiing_snowboarding_at_chicopee/

I did put this in regionals, but I think this deserves more attention.

i just realized that if this happens it probably wont be this year, will it..
please tell me if you think im right or not.
does it take long to install and will they put it on top of the grass or have to build a new hill made of something else?
who knows about this stuff? (Liberty U students????)

My gess is that if they do this, it would be for next summer.
Kids at my hill are stoked because of this thread, they can't believe how many people have posted! Thanks NS and keep spreading tha werd!

I'll take 5-6 months of powder, real snow, and a nice mountain with trees to ski through and cliffs to throw myself off of. Oh, and big parks at the bigger mountains like Mammoth.

I don't mean to thread jack but Its totaly on topic. Its about getting an indoor jib park likie the Jib Yard in Utah set up in Ottawa. It would be so sick. Click on the link for more information and click attending if you think its a good idea.

I would be pumped to see chicopee turn into a year round slope, but I can almost gurantee it will not happen. First off, im pretty sure they dont have the money. They made cuts this season to instructors pay (new level 2's only get $12/hr instead of the old $15/hr) and they are going to need to replace the sugarbowl lift within the next 2 seasons (due to safety reasons). I really dont see this happening.

Also, if they have the money I think it would be a much better idea to somehow collaborate with a larger hill such as MSLM or Blue, find a way to split the costs and the profits. spending that much money on 150ft vertical...

But I really do hope we get some sort of summer skiing here in southern onterrible, and have filled out the survey despite my pessimism. Just trying to help you see the reality of the situation so that you dont' get too dissapointed when the survey reveals that 95% of the people would love a summer slope and yet they dont do anything about it. Doesnt mean we cant still hope for it though.

thats kind of a bummer,   but they do make it seem like theyre hoping to make money from Summer Camps, so it could happen if they see money coming in from that.
and i think that idea about Blue Mountain or MSLM collaborating is a good one,  anything to make it happen cause there is definitely a market

It's so sick how Chicopee might be doing this! But it's funny that it's Chicopee no one says anything about it in the winter and I'm lucky to be only 2 hours away!

I live in New England. I think you should really put it in the title that its Canada summer skiing on the east coast, because there is no way that a lot of people will travel that far

done, and snowflex is sick. used for the drop in at woodward, slides like a charm. i watched a little kid get pretty scratched up when his bare skin slid on it though

nice i live in dundas which is like right beside hamilton if u dont no but im so stoked on this if it happens that would be so sick i would never have to put away the skis for the summer man im pumped now :P hopefully it happens
