it was good but it definitely jumped around way to much. they didn't focus on the same animal for more than a minute or so and then it immediately went to a completely different part of the world. i didn't really like oprah as the narrater either. some one else, like the guy who was the voice in the commercials for the show would have been better.
the only thing that truely amazed me was the cinematorgraphy. like how the hell do they catch all that shit on tape? and the depth of field on whatever camera's they were using was amazing!
Holy Crap that trailer was intense haha, ive seen all the British ones (living here) and they are all epic. For those complaining it jumps around loads, its just the first episode as its like a little teaser of whats to come in the next ones. All the other episodes after are split into categories where they dont jump around and well... its just awesome! Unlucky about Oprah too.
i wasnt a fan of oprah at all. it sounded like she was just reading it off of a script instead of talking about something she actually knew about. eitherway the filming was super sick and i ll be watching every episode
The first part jumped around so fast because it was supposed to act as a major trailor for the rest of the episodes which will then be more specific. And whereas Planet Earth centered their episodes around "Caves," "Open Forests," "Grasslands," ect., Life will break it up by animal kingdoms.
Anyone stay around and watch Reptiles and Amphibians? That pebble frog was AWESOME!
I watched both episodes last night and was blown away. All of the things that they film are amazing in and of themselves, but then the shots that these guys get are just mind blowing. Like I really could not figure out how they filmed like half the shots. Absolutely unreal cinematography and so many sick organisms made for a dope show. I know where I am going to be on Sunday nights for the next month or two.
I sometimes wonder if the cinematographers are aware of the awesome biological animal behavior they happen to film while they're filming it. Or only later realize how special it was when they slow it down and watch it again.
I don't think the cinematographers realized the awesomeness of the orca/seal faceoff in its entirety until they were done filming.
