Ho-oh is quite the beast too and Lugia is so fucking hard to get to I'd have to disagree.  Crystal is pretty legit too the attacks got the best animations I feel like I'm inside my Gameboy.

the only differences are the pokemon. in gold you get ho-oh in silver you get lugia. besides that they're the same.

leaf green and fire red are also mad good, since they are remakes of blue/red. Get those. Better graphics than the originals and more stuff to do at the end

If you honestly think that the original Red was better than Gold, there's something wrong with you, or you're just scared to admit that the originals weren't that great. Frankly, the graphics were terrible, the animations were non-existent, and it was just the first game that they made for pokemon.

Gold, however, had much improved animations, a great story that was twice as long, added 100 (the only additions that were very interesting) pokemon, and included tons more than the originals ever could have. Gold was a HUGE improvement over the originals.

Ruins of Alph

Non-gym leader Bosses (kimono girls, surfer girl squad, etc)

100+ more pokemon, plus the original 150.

Larger presence of Team Rocket

The introduction of the pokeRadio/phone/device?

The introduction of attachable items + more attributes

The introduction of Daytime/Nightime play + Weekday variables.

YOU CAN FIGHT 18 Gym leaders + The Elite Four + Red (the most powerful trainer you EVER meet in ANY of the pokemon games!)

And you can get Tyranitar. That guy was pure win, and you know it.

Well, it took me forever to catch dragonair. Was such a bitch. I remember starting with Totodile and ending up with a Charmander and some other fire type and always ended up fucking myself over because of it.
