HDV start/stop detection in FCP

I've always manually gone through and captured clip by clip starting and stopping the camera and pressing escape hundreds of times.
I recently went on a trip and filled 3 tapes, so wanted to just let the camera go and let the dv start/stop detect do its job, but quickly found out that it is strictly for DV not HDV.
I searched around a bit but didn't find anhthing worthwhile, is there any way to do a start stop detect on HDV footage?
Thanks.
(for reference I'm using FCP 5.1.4, and with an HV30.

you can imp in imovie HD 06 with start stop detection
other than that i think there may be start stop detection in FCP 6? someone correct me if im wrong, but either way that doesnt really help you
I import off an hv40 with imovie and it works just fine, just find the capture scratch and load to fcp

very much so. but considering it doesnt have a massive quality loss and it has start stop detection it allows for a really simple and quick import.
All times are Eastern (-5)
