I have heard from several people that at big mountains (mainly heard about the Canadian ones like Kicking Horse, Mount Tremblant, etc.) it takes like several hours to get down the mountain. Is this true? It seems kinda long lol.
nonono! you heard wrong here. yes others can take up to 3 hours to descend, but at tremblant you're getting mixed up with the waiting lines, not the time of descent!
if you average a reasonable 10 miles per hour, in two hours you could travel 20 miles. there are no trails that are 20 miles long. the only real possibility is that you wreck about 11 times and stop to have a sandwich for about 1.5 hours. keep in mind having sandwiches is highly recommended.
Depends on the terrain, condition, the line you take, if you stop to film, etc...
Jay Peak in Vermont was taking us 1-1.5 hours to get down when we were heading through glades. Mainly because we had 8 people skiing together, and tried not to lose anyone.
