Would a Canon Rebel T2i be better? It is cheaper, but I want the best I can get. Ideally, a body and a lens would be about 1,000. Any other suggestions? Or help between the Nikon D90 and Canon Rebel T2i?
Imo go nikon, I like there menus and feel better, thats what ended up putting a d5000 in my hands instead of the t1i, looks like your just one step above
t2i and most of canons dslr's have better video right now but i think nikon might come out with something baller soon thats what im waiting for(already have all nikon also), but for now if you dont already have nikon or canon i would just go ahead and get canon
I got the d90 a little under a year ago and i was going between that and the t1i. I'm really happy with the pictures that it takes, but I wish it had better video. The t2i can put out incredible video that looks very similar to the 7d, so if you think you'll be using video often then go with the t2i but personally i think the nikon puts out better photos. I'm really hoping nikon releases a camera that has the same quality of video as the 7d sometime in the near future.
Canon is leaps and bounds ahead of Nikon in HDSLR's right now. The ball is in Nikon's court, so I'm waiting to see what they can put out. As for D90 vs. T2i if you want to shoot more video no question about it get the T2i.
If you want a good good still cam with great HD capabilities, go with the t2i. I've messed around with one, and while it feels a bit cheap, it's a pretty solid camera. Otherwise, the D90 is still a great camera as well and feels way more solid, but the video absolutely sucks. Nikon wont be coming out with anything in the hdslr market anytime soon, they're a ways away from that.
More megapixels doesn't mean a better camera. Stuffing 18 megapixels on such a small sensor is totally unnecessary. Its only beneficial if you want to make very large prints of your photos. I'd still say get the T2i since the price is amazing. The money you save from not buying a D90 you can buy a nicer lens because thats what really matters.
Here's an edit i made with my d90 and a tripod. Tell me what you think. I actually love filming with my d90. I was skeptical at first about the video mode. One thing i dont like thought is you cant film using the viewfinder.
