not exactly. at the time, cork 9s were a lot more tech of a trick than they are now. that was still in the age when switch 10 was a contest winner.


i would say that doubles now really arent the groundbreaking difficulty they used to be, most pros can do doubles, and some can do them on pretty small jumps. i mean i remember that day in the park edit gus kang'ed a jump that couldnt have been bigger than 50ish feet.

50 foot gap to box? doable. dub on? tech, but id bet doable. it wouldnt be easy, but i dont think its unreasonable either.

That big ass flat down box in the Stevens Pass segment in Pretty Good would be perfect. People were doing the craziest shit on it. LJ had rodeo 4 on pretzel 4, Gus had cork 810 tail on pretzel 2. With a little more kick on the jump, kang would be nothing for some pros.

candide back in the day (bc it was so unheard of at the time), C vanular in LSS, and delormes ridiculous sw270on and various gap to flat down stuff done in realtime?turbo? (i forget which) is the only gap to rail stuff ill enjoy

how about a 50ft nose butter 450 onto a rail? or some sort of set up where there's a flat take-off 20-30ft step down to rail and someone legit nollies on, none of that fake tip dive stuff

I don't see what's so bad about doubles to rail, it would be a super rare thing to see, but it would be really sick. Besides, there's still so much for skiers to do in skiing stylistically anyways - there's guys like Pollard, Lolo, Pep who are all making their money off tricks no bigger than 9s. And some of the stuff Lolo does is on a completely different level from a style standpoint - if everyone viewed skiing like him we'd have a lot more variety in our tricks.

I would argue that we have variety in freeskiing because no one wants to be just like the other guy, aka why some people go bigger, some go faster, and some go slower and steezier.  This philisophical stuff that people have been writing for the last few years is silly.  It's not a comp, so who cares?

I completely agree with you, I just also feel that there is a lot more for people to do with tricks from a creativity and style standpoint. Like spinning off the opposite edge, weird grabs, grabs with variety, different ways of doing grabs - I'm stoked on rail/box skiing right now because people are trying new and cool stuff, I just think jumps could use a little of the same, but I'm definitely not bitching about the state skiing is in.
