What are they like?

-stiffness?

-park?

-weight?

-center mounting?

Im currently riding 155. I can get the 157 or the 164 which one do you think?

stiff underfoot for stability on jumps
soft in tips and tails fro butters
super light because of bamboo
and they're durable

If your advance skier go with 164 or if beginner go a size smaller

I have the 2008 in a 157, Next year I'm getting the 171 because these are the sickest skis i've ever had. They are super snappy and have a ton of pop (because of the bamboo). They spin real well on jumps and even better on and off rails. I would go with 164 because once you get them you wont want to grow out of them. To give you a good idea of what they are like search "Mike Hornbeck" and watch his self edit. Hope this helps.

The ski is on the stiffer side, but yet still easy to flex and butter
Extremely light
Very low swing weight
Sidecut is at -2.5 so the ski rides well when center mounted

Im riding LTE's. LOVE them. I'll probably buy another pair after I wear these out. I love them that much.

And I've ridden AR6's, Thalls, and Suspects on comparison. Not even close.

I've had the 07 and 08 Larose's.

I didn't think they were a stiff ski but they were definitely a lively and fun ski.

I think that these skis were more suited to being mounted close to centre than most others. At the same time that I had the Larose's I also had pipe cleaners in 181cm mounted 5cm back from centre (Larose's mounted 3cm back). Even though the pipe cleaners felt stiffer and were a bit longer I found that it was easier to overpower the tip of the pipe cleaners and the pipe cleaners weren't as lively. the Laros'e can be driven surprisingly hard for a ski that isn't that stiff (IMO). Personally, I don't see what the obsession with centre mounting is about, I like my mount to be a few cm back from centre. 3cm back from centre and the Larose's skied great.

Negatives: I kept breaking them. I got the 08s on warranty after breaking 07s (bought them at the end of the season and broke them after a few days). I then broke the 08s within one session at Momentum, then got another pair of 08s and broke those within a week. On the plus side Liiberty were really good on warrantying them. And I do tend to break a lot of skis (not just libertys), but thats probably due to my size (225lbs) rather then my being any good. Even still to break this many skis this quickly was disappointing.

Overall; if it was only about how they skied I might buy them again. But, I just found them to fragile.

Might wanna just go for the LTE (new Larose). Mad fun ski. Definitely go for the 164.

ive had liberty larose's, kgb's, choppers, and predators. and yeah the larose was a fun ski. but guess what? they all broke. more than one pair of each. spend your money on a quality product, k2, unless you have time to wait when you send them in for your warrantee a couple times a season. is that informative enough for you

So now that you have had all their original skis and not current ones you can make an opinion on their line which is completely different in every way from the one your talking about.

btw- The KGB was not a ski, it was a two by four with "edges" and plastic over it.

i have the 09 larose in 178. Id say its fairly stiff. you really got to put alot of effort into buttering. With the bamboo core they are also fairly light. They are the best skis i have ever had for sure. they hold up well. Ive ridden them on rocks and they are still beautiful.

Yeah cause they don't have a single all-mountain, backcountry, powder ski.

Oh wait, pretty sure the Helix was the winner of "testers choice" in about every major review.
