Kung Fujas Vs. Blends?

First off sorry for another thread about this.

So I am 5'7'' 110lbs, I live in MI so its ice but there is some deep three inches of snow on great days. Are these skis too much for me and the conditions, if you answer "No" to this read on:

I am looking for a more versitile ski, instead of just a park specific ski for next year. I think I have narrowed it down to the two of these but now comes the hard part! What do I go for? I have spirals so no need for any park specific ski. I do trees, maybe hit some 3 foot drops into some man made snow pillows. So what does NS think? Should I go for some nice race skis to be able to stick a edge into the ice, or go for these?

So, they are both about 400 dollars. both are awesome all mountain skis. Both are pretty stiff.
Heres why i would go with the Kung fujas...

Dont get me wrong line skis are awesome. i Have them and love them.. However i HAVE had to spend quite some money on topsheet, edge and base repairs..

I love my invaders for park but couldnt really imagine a great line powder ski if it isnt the phrophet or mothership.

On the flip side the kung fujas have new sidewalls, great looks, and k2 skis are one of the most respectable durable ski out there.

Sorry for the long explanation and both are great but personally i would go for the Kung fujas

The k2's have softer tips, tails and a wee bit of rocker. Also they have a more (not sure how to describe it) central flex point, whereas the blends are more freeride flexy, and more directional (there we go) I have those k2's and love them. they are nimble, better in pow then expected, and tour well.

If you aren't opposed to getting next years blends, Line softened them up and added some rocker. In my opinion, I think that makes the blends a perfect all mountain ski

it does. hes saying line motherships and prophets are theyre only good pow sticks...forgetting the ep's and SFBs maybe?

I was in the same situation at the start of this season. I wanted an all mountain ski that i could do everything on but i was torn between the too. I ended up going with the fujas and dont regret it. They're such a fun ski, they do everything. They float better than i thought they would but still hold a decent edge when bombing groomers. I've never ridden the blends but i would def reccomend the kung fujas. I've heard great things about the blends too tho so i dont think you can go wrong either way. My 2 cents.

so they essentialy made them the kung fujas'? which btw, the 2011 Kung Fujas's have full hellbent style rocker and are a wee bit wider

The 2011 does NOT have HellBent rocker, which we refer to as Powder Rocker. It has camber underfoot and All-Terrain rocker in the tips and tails. It is slightly more pronounced in comparison to the current Kung Fujas model.

Get the Chronics, I really recommend them, after demoing both the Chronics and the Blends, the Chronics are way better in the park and are only a little bit worse than the Blends all mountain.

dont listen to the kid that said they are both pretty stiff, the kung fujas are noodly as shit, line blends are going to be much more fun since all k2 skis ski like a dead log.

Sorry but i have to disagree. I even ski Line currently and like them but K2 skis are far from "dead logs" he said he likes the kung fujas and i think they would still be the right ski...

I have the same pair of blends their a little stiffer but their the most stable ski ive ever ridden, if your leaning a little more freeride the blends are a better choice.

i have lends and they are awesome. i use mine for park and all mountain and the stiffness help for both. they are charge big lines and stomp bigger jumps in the park. the 100 underfoot is perfect cause they float really well in powder when i get to ski it.

I was in this same predicament. i decided to go with the fujas, and couldn't be happier.

They hold a great edge on anything including the treacherous ice of the central NY. quicker and snappier than their size may say, but they are on the stiffer side which i like imo.

Pow is great too, they shred it. the rocker on the tip/tail is awesome too and i have to work to dig a tip. if your looking for an even bigger rocker, buy next years model because they just added some on.

I say look for some deals on this years. good luck my man!

never ridden fujas... but blends kill it everywhere, specially if you want it as an all mountain ski. super stable, holds a great edge on hard pack and floats great on softer snow. i love my pair.

pictured are 09' blends, are you looking into those or the '10 blends? I dunno if they changed much besides the graphics, as i've never riden the 09's but I live and ski in maine and i picked up the '10 blends this season and they're money. not too fat to ski the ice and groomers, glades and other shit of the east. but they pull through nicely on a powder day. they're not super stiff, but they're definitley not noodles. All around great ski, fun in the park and everywhere else lots of fun.

i do not want to start the same thread so what are peoples opinions on skis like:

armada - arv

rossi - s5

on3p - jeronimo

surface - watch life

faction- wednesday

4frnt - msp

rossi - s3

line - elizabeth

any boones

dynastar - 6th sense (or comparible coreupt model haha)

atomic - patent or snoop

or any comparible 92-96ish mm waist all mountain skis

i have ar6s right now and want something a little stiffer and wider

I'll comment about the skis that I have tried.

Armada ARV
I found these really boring. They like to go fast and carve big turns. They're not too good at anything else.

Rossignol S5
A bit like the ARV but better. A fun ski at slower speeds, unlike the Armada.

Line Blend
These weren't on your list but they're similar so I'll comment. Out of these three (ARV, S5, Blend) I think these are the best. The turn radius was too big to my liking, but other than that these are great. The small rocker (I tested the 10/11 model) should be good in pow too.

Rossignol S3
I expected a lot but these didn't deliver. A quiver of one, equally boring in all conditions.

Line Elizabeth
Way different than the other skis. These are super soft! Also these are park skis. Elizabeths are my favourite skis of all time. So fun for park jibbing, they carve groomers really well and work in pow too, especially when skiing in the trees. But as mentioned, not stiff at all.

ARV, S5 and Blend are stiff-ish. I would say that Blend is softer than the other two. Rossignol S3's are a medium-flex ski and Elizabeths give a whole new meaning to soft flex.

I don't know if you're looking for a park ski or an all-mountain ski.

If you're looking for an all-mountain ski, then I wouldn't get the Patent if I were you. I've tried it and it is a symmetric park ski. While great in the park, definitely not ideal for carving.

Can't say anything about the S6.

my friend had chronics an loved them, but the whole topsheet came off. he now has blends and love them to but once again the topsheet is dissentigrating. line realy need to improve there durability

the blends you have pictured are 08/09, think thats already been cleared up, but the 09/10 blends DO NOT HAVE ROCKER, to the guy who said they do. the 10/11 blends have the smallest bit of early rise and become very similar to this years fujas. 09/10 bends are nice skis but they piss all your friends off because they spit up a lot of snow. the fujas are, in my opinion, a better ski in the 09/10 category, as they handle most stuff really well, that being said the blends are not a bad ski either and quite a bit cheaper

First off.....YEA MICHIGAN!!!!!

second....Kung Fujas. I live in Marquette now, and the Kung Fus are the best all mountain, slay everything ski I have ever owned. I ski 80% park now that I moved back to the murder mitten, and once they get broken in and flexy. gold for park
