do you have a degree in astrophysics? if so, ok. if not, youre as qualified in this question as i am.
a black hole is a singularity, so technically its a small dot with infinite mass, if i remember correctly. and i am not sure if something that emits literally nothing (at least no positive mass) has a color as a rock or a tree.
You're right it doesn't have a color. At least not that we can see. That's because it has such a strong gravitational field that not even light can escape it's pull. Scientists can't actually see the black hole, but they can see the effects it has on nearby matter.
I also don't have a degree in astrophysics, so to anyone who does, feel free to correct me.
Correct. The gravity is strong enough so that no light can escape, so you would see blackness surrounding it, but you would never be able to see past the event horizon, simply because there is no light; so you can never actually observe the black hole itself.
1st year astronomy FTW.
