Okay so I got this liquid rub on wax at Windells in a toss out. I am just trying this out for the first time so bear with me. This a new technique that i have kinda of just invented as I go. So this liquid wax comes in a little bottle that looks like this:
and it has a sort of cloth top, where the liquid comes out:
And you need something similar to a scraper:
So you tip the bottle upside down and rub the liquid all over the base of the skis:
After this, leave it to dry for about an hour. Then you use the scraper thing and run it along the surface of the skis, removing the top layer of liquid (the dried stuff will stay).
After you have gotten the majority of the bunches of liquid off, you will be left with some liquid streaks along the base. Now this is where it is a little out of the norm. At this point, you can:
a)let it dry over night, then scrape the dry wax off and brush it.
or
b)(what I did as I don't have a brush) lightly wipe the wetter wax off evenly with a towel.
So now you should have a nice thin layer of wax ready to ski on!!!
So clearly this is not the best way to wax skis (a professional hot wax would be), but this is a less expensive, easy, quick way to wax your skis when you need it. It requires very minimal amounts of materials and should make your skis faster when you need a little bit more speed right away. I have not skied on these yet, so i cannot tell you how good this works, but I will post a short review in this thread about how it works once I do.
