I sold C, PGF, and USB as things were taking a shit like 2 weeks ago.

If you like to speculate...Citigroup could be worth a lot in time. PGF gives you monthly divs @ 7-8%, USB is just a decent bank all around.

just make sure to diversify your portfolio. Further, I'd check barrons.com and reuters.com daily and get a run down of the hot stocks of the day. Typically those stocks will continue to see an upward trend for a while because of the nature of the market (i.e. they may consider a stock hot because of good Q1 earning. That stock will continue to rise for more than just that day) Anyways, some good stocks of late that have been in my portfolio include Phillip Morris, Agilent technologies, and different retail stores such as A&F and The Childrens Place.

iShares. Fastest growing mutual fund on the market, and one of the only ones that met with lots of success recently. My dad is a MD with the firm, it is currently owned by Blackrock. Before, it was part of Barclay's Global Investors, of Barclays bank. And it held a significant portion of Barklay's dollar value.

a better question would be, does anyone know a serious, cheap e-marketer for stocks? since handling fees at my local bank are incredibly high, somewhat 50 bucks for one order, i have way to less capital do to anything with it.

btw my brother "owns" a part of a german soccer club, borussia dortmund. although i dont think its more than the carpet of the lobby in the HQs, but still...


and this thread turned out pretty serious if you ask me

I can't remember the name, I'll have to look at my notebook but my financial teacher told me about a no load fund that has gas, natural resources, international companies and real estate. Seems like an awesome investment with our economy plus it was only like $40 a share about a month ago.

AAPL will be going over $250 soon. Usually the philosophy is to buy during the rumor season before a new product, then sell shortly before its release. After its release, buy during the media backlash against the product, because they will all be wrong.

You'll need a lot of cash to get into AAPL though.

If you seriously want to invest, check out investopedia for a good framework. Also, if you're savvy enough, check out options investing. I'm a finance major and I'm quickly learning that arbitrage is where it's at if you wanna make bank.

BTW, here is a screen cap from an invest simulator i started in 2007. You start with $1million that i placed about 99% into Apple... you can see how well it has performed in 3 years.

I doubt that it will be near $2000 in the coming months. I was reading alot of investors are capping it off around $1300....

Don't forget to mention the fact that investing in gold isn't as easy as it sounds. There are alot of options on what forms of gold stocks to invest in, be it mining stocks, ETFs, Precious metal mutual funds. Here is a good guide to the basics of investing in gold. If anything, just look at the chart about 3/4 of the way down.

id stick to bonds, corporate and govt bonds, or CDS if u have the option.  with the fed starting to bring up rates CDS could bring in a lot of cash if u traded them away at the right time
