who do you think is going to win the upcoming championship title in UFC 111? GSP? or Dan Hardy? perosonally i think gsp will win. who's ur favorite fight? mine is anderson silva. UFC talk right here, talk about anything. how many of you are going to watch ufc 111? i know i am and i got free to air satillite so i get it for free
My real issue with it is how he danced around taunting Maia to engage when he himself, is doing what? Pulling his best Kalib Running Man Starnes impersonation and also eating a fair amount of painful shots too.
Hell, Dan Mirg one of the worst refs ever raised his hand at the decision and about a 1/3 of the way through lifting his hand he was like "fuck it, I am going home"
Belfort was hurt, Dana "I'm King" White doesn't have Hendo, Franklin would have said fuck that, Wand hadn't had a fight at MW yet, Marquardt just got raped by Sonnen(R), and Okami hadn't shown his prowess in the Linhares fight yet.
So I get blaming the matchmakers but those last three rounds if Maia had finished him with a Ryo Chonan flying heel hook or Rumina Sato flying armbar would have made me laugh my ass off.
And if anything he probably hurt Maia more over 5 rounds than he would have finishing him after the knee. Maia probably has a broken orbital bone, broken nose, and a fucked up jaw right now.
Like, in the 2nd he dropped Maia with a massive knee. Hell, he wouldn't of even needed to pound the hell out of him just throw tons of Nate Diaz soft shots and overwhelm him with volume and the ref would have stopped it.
I really want Sonnen(R) to get better and have Okami get one more win under his belt (maybe Marquardt) then we have two vry good wrestlers that could give Anderson a good fight. Plus, Okami showed he knows what a straight jab is now too so it isn't like he has no striking skills anymore.
I could care less about the not finishing but the showboating/disrespect (he was badmouthing Maia the whole time in Portuguese making fun of the "class" he is in [Brazil has something of a class system if you don't know])
I'm guessing he wanted to knock him out standing up, not on the ground. I agree Hughes was playing with Gracie for a bit after he chopped his leg in the last round. I was surprised Gracie didnt try to throw anything though, I thought the fight would be taken to the ground for sure.
The Penn/Edgar fight sucked major dick though. I'm not really a fan of Penn but he shouldve taken Edgar to the ground and ended it in the first two or 3 rounds instead of drawing it out and getting tired. Gotta give it to Edgar though he looked like he was on crack the whole time by the way he moved.
That was the biggest pile of garbage that I have ever experienced. I have no idea what was going through any of their heads. They pretty much ruined ufc, they turned it into boxing or something worse, like a mix between the wwf and ufc. Hated it.
UFC doesn't need him, and maybe this is just me but I feel like most fans don't really give a shit about him either way. Its like he's a great fighter, but he's just there, theres nothing interesting or engaging about him.
ok his highlight reel is the result of him being a great fighter, like I said. Just because you jerk off to cagepotato and actually find it worth your time to study this shit doesn't mean the average fan feels the same way. I have no way to back it up but I have a feeling his pay per view numbers are relatively low in relation to his talent/accomplishment.
ok well now I feel like a dick bc I think we agree 100% on the fedor comparisons.
As for GSP I think hes popular because of how hes remained so ridiculously humble all the way through his transformation from childhood nerd/target to dominant UFC champ. And this is going to sound really, really, really, gay but I also think it has something to do with how good looking he is and how perfect his body is. I know if I could 'be' one fighter in the UFC I would pick him...
well Ive been cheering for him since my brother turned me on to him years ago, way before his Hughes fights. I know what you mean tho, bandwagon fans are annoying. But at the same time, since I like GSP, I can only be happy when I see how many other people love him whether they have 'valid' reasons or not.
On a side note, who's stoked for the Strikeforce card this weekend? Shields v Hendo, Mousasi v King Mo, Melendez v Aoki, all for free. Possibly a Mayhem Miller fight if any of the fights end early.
^^^CLICK. For anyone that doesn't know... the big guy is Fedor's face.
Fucking StrikeForce is gonna be sick. Shields is going to be punched into next week by Hendo. Mousasi is gonna rape King Mo and Melendez/Aoki is gonna be an AWESOME fight.
I don't think the King Mo/Mousasi bout is as mismatched as most seem to think. Personally I think King Mo has a chance, but if he wants to do it he's gotta do it quick - the longer the fight drags on, the more time Mousasi will have to size him up. I'm a huge fan of both fighters. Mousasi's favoured for a reason, but don't write King Mo off if he loses. If King Mo wins, he'll have proven that he's ready to hang with the best of the LHW division - if Mousasi wins, he'll have a win over one of the most promising LHW prospects, and it will give King Mo a chance to re-evaluate his game before stepping into the limelight.
I can't decide who'll win the Aoki/Melendez fight either... Aoki by sub or Melendez by (T)KO. Don't see it going to decision.
Mousasi has been on such a tear lately that it seems hard to think someone will bump him off. Yes, Mo has a chance but it isn't that good. A long fight is not good for him.
OH! And I'm sure all of you UFC-heads have already done this, but if you haven't, there's a 3 month free subscription to the UFC vault promotion going on with EDGE Shaving gel.
yeah man, which means if any (or all three) end early CBS will have one helluva time trying to fill up all that free time on primetime haha
also, it's hilarious how the odds for Shields to win are +305, and he's the champion haha. Mayhem (to win) is -1250, I don't think I've EVER seen odds like that before (gotta put down 1250 to win 100 back)
I'm guessing Aoki couldn't get the fight to the ground and Melendez owned him on his feet. Controlled the fight - think Silva/Maia except the striker was actually striking.
King Mo probably controlled the fight with his wrestling.
Prior to the fight there were whispers that Hendo was fighting injured, a lot of people were putting money on Shields the day before - we'll just have to wait and find out.
I know P4P is pretty sketchy in the MMA world, with the UFC unwilling to co-promote and everything, but IMO Shields should be up there now. The Melendez win really shakes up the LW rankings too.
Haven't watched it yet though, been watching the Nucks game, so I'm just speculating. Just checked results during ntermission.
I agree. Everything about him is great, personally I think it's good to have someone like that in the sport. You know he had a championship ring made for himself even before the fight haha.
I also think Scott Coker is a model CEO of a promotion.
