Ski community near Little or Big Cottonwood Canyon
Hey- I am looking to move and am looking for an area near the mouth of either canyon that has a good ski/snowboard vibe. WHat is Sandy or Cottonwood Heights like? I know it isn't like a ski town feel like PC but is there any kind of snow community that hang off the mtns? I don't need to go out a lot but as far as living goes that area is hard to read because it seems so residential and older. Any info or specific neighborhoods would be awesome. Do people stick around in the summer and hang like BBQ's or anything? Thanks!!
I live in Cottonwood Heights myself and I would say that it's more of a plain residential area so it's nothing special but it's nice. The ski community around here seems pretty scattered to me at least. There are some cool ski bums that live above me that have small parties a lot during the summer.
^ yep what he said. there are way more people who dont ski then people who do. but there are still plenty of people you will meet that do, you will meet some people eventually. i always see a lot of skiers at the cotton wood heights rec center in the summer, and if you mountain bike at all it seems like every other person i talk to on the trail is a skier.
its a major city but there are still alot of skiers ...for example today it only took a few mins. to hitch a ride from the BCC park and ride to upper LCC and only 2 cars from Mineral trailhead down to the BCC park and ride
If you do move to Cottonwood Heights, I would highly suggest finding a place just off of Wasatch Blvd because that's where I find most of the skiers to live plus you have a headstart on the valley dwellers to both Big and Little Cottonwood canyons.
I think I remember reading an article in skiing magazine a couple years ago about a place called Green Hills or something where a ton of skiers live in SLC.
haha ya i remember that article! definitely something called green hills, it was somewhere really close to lil cottonwood because i remember they lived a minute from my house and i live just off wasatch next to the light.
