I think I have a very knowledgeable understanding of what is going in North Korea, as well as other countries that are just as bad, if not worse. from what I'm getting your understanding is limited to what you saw in the beginning of that James Bond movie. at the moment North Korea is no bigger threat than many other countries but there are people making what i'd call hate posters against them. this is completely unneeded. out of any country I think someone should make one about Saudi Arabia. Go read up on what they're up to and it'll make your skin crawl thinking that they are one of the US's largest trading partners (in terms of monetary value of good.. which is 99.999% oil). and that is the reason a poster like this wont be made about Saudi Arabia, because they make your car run. Who cares about the massive human rights issues in the country, long as we can drive our SUV it's all good right?

If US were getting a large portion of they're fuels from North Korea almost guaranteed that poster would not exist, and that is what bugs me.

I'm not saying that Saudi Arabia is a saint, but really, compared to N. Korea? Like Spence said, they don't even have access to the internet. They are the most isolated nation in the world, one of the most isolated of all time, and have an atrocious human rights record. How is it a hate poster? It is showing the facts of how horrible a totalitarian dictatorship can be and how it makes for a population that lives in complete fear and hardly even knows the rest of the world exists. And you think that is unfair and a bad thing?

i dont think we need to rank countries in terms of their fuckedupness

any country (or the people that live there) with problems has a right to receive some kind of help. pretty all the poor countries in africa, southeast asia and southern america

and as you said, public information cannot do any damage for these matters.

Bottom line, is when there is a country like North Korea or Sudan or something like that. The best idea is to not hate on it making very biased posters informing people of it's problems in the worst possible way and comparing it to another country saying "look at how much better we are than them". The better way to go about it is to educationally inform people about what is going on without just bashing the shit out of the country and actually inspire people the think "hey, maybe we can do something to help". because when there are enough people who are willing to donate time and resources towards what they think is a meaningful cause then shit gets done. you cant just say "look at how horrible these people are" and expect anything good to come from that. if it's just hate all the time saying what terrible people they are then chances are no one's going to care to help them out.
