that really makes me sick. i can't believe that someone could have such a lack of respect for human life. just another example of the innate cruelty of the human race i guess. it really makes you wonder whether the Buddhists are right when they say that humans are innately good

Yeah its horrible. THey found the guy in thunder bay ontario which is a good 17 hours north of orangeville. which is a 20mn drive from my town.

i heard about that on the news.. it's terrible. In class we learned about this thing called 'diffusion of responsibility.' When people are in large groups and something goes wrong, they tend to have a 'someone else will do something about it' attitude. If everyone has this attitude, then nothing gets done about the problem.For example, at a public pool..there was no lifeguard, a woman started to splash aroun and drown. About 100 people stood there and watched her die because they all though someone else would help her.

Welcome to the new world order. You'll probly see more of this, hatever it is (I didn't read the article) in the future because people are becoming increaingly detacted from reality. Blame TV.
And, I belive, buddists say that people are good but the world is bad. The orld evidently got the best of these people.

and darryl just because you dont know to many people doesnt mean you should look the opposite way on this issue. its serious dude. It wasnt just that the lady was from O town but that this happened. just think. it could have been someone you know. it coulda been you. and you could have died because of someone doing this senseless act. and not to mention that no one stoped it.

ya... but it didn't happen to me... and probably won't 'cause i'm not going to be dumb enough to have a relationship with a crazy abusive chick who will run me over with her car. i mean, bad stuff happens to many people everyday, weather it's in Orangeville or Azerbaijan. The world is not a nice place, and sometimes shit happens, so why bother worrying about stuff if it doesn't affect me at all? it's just a waste of time. I didn't even think too much of it when my grandparents died. they lived in manitoba and i saw them maybe like once every few years... i mean, ya i felt sad, but i got over it quickly. when my parents devorced my sister was crying and i just said 'oh... so where you moving mom?' than went and played with some ninja turtles...
sorry if i come off as a heartless bastard, I just don't get sad, insulted, or just put into a bad mood very easily.

it's not so much that that act itself is or isn't effecting you. it's that the same mentality that caused her to die is in so many people now that something similar will happen that will effect you.
