hey. so I'm from salt lake city and I'm moving to NZ from June-October and I am just looking for some information on jobs. I currently applied for lifts/rentals/anything at Corronet and Remarkables and was just wondering if you are allowed to ride on your breaks. I'm not really sure what the best job to try to get may be, i just want to be able to ride and meet people. If you have any insight on cool jobs to try to get please let me know. Thanks.
Hey, I work at Remarks (ski school), rentals and lifts definitely get to ride on their breaks, not sure how many they get of them though. I really like ski school, but in the busy periods we don't really get much time to ski for ourselves.
Jobs in town are often actually better for ride time than the mountain jobs, but you may not get passes etc. They can be pretty hard to come by though, what jobs do you have experience doing?
Some of the club fields will have employee housing, but in Queenstown, and I'm pretty sure Wanaka, you have to find your own place, not too hard to do though. Just stay in a hostel for a bit and check the Mountain Scene (local paper) when it comes out.
In Queenstown? Or in the south in general? Best/biggest skiing is TC, best park is probably Cardrona, for those two you'd want to live in Wanaka, the best mix (imho) of terrain and parks is Remarkables, the good thing about Queenstown is that you get both mountains( Coronet and Remarks) on the same pass in Wanaka they are all different.
