So I ski in Ill, and I just found out my "ski shop", if you want to call it that, does not have a Jester jig. I got some brand new skis and I would not enjoy them drilling my brand new skis free hand. Anyone have any suggestions??? +K for the help!
^^^forgot to add that the closest other ski shop is around 2 hours away from where I live, and usually they wont mount them for you until that night so I would have to drive up there again the next day.
That sucks, you could check the BST and see if anyone is will to sell you (or even better yet, let you borrow) and Jester Jig and have them use that. Other than that, I think you'll have to go to another shop.
Get some plexy glass and make a straight scratched with something like a knife and screw the toe piece aligning with the middle of the binding then put ur toe of ur boot onto the toe peice and allgn the back piece with the middle mark and line the back or the boot with the heel piece and make sure that when you do that you have the heel piece right in the mddle of the travel adjustment that you can with your bindings so you can adjust them later if needed and still have enough room if you get a size boot smaller or bigger then your original and then mark on the plastic where the middle of the boot would be. After that you have a basic jig, take the bindings off the plastic and make a middle line of the ski and allign it with the mid line of the ski and the jig and where the mid point of the boot would be is where you want to mount it. Use non water soluble wood glue or expoxy when you screw the screws into the ski, and I usually use a 5/32 drill bit when I mount my skis.
