Ridiculous

Im trying to find the best way to make a few clips have a short depth of field,without having to make or buy the 35mm adaptor. any one have a method in FCE?

I don't think it can be done in FCE/P, you might be able to try laying a filter over it to get the grain feel, but the DOF aspect would be extremely hard to get in post unless you really get involved with it in after effects. You could try searching around http://dvxuser.com to see if it is possible.

If you have yet to shoot, your best bet would be to rig something up, probably would take a little effort and penny pinching. Or you could pick up one of these if you have a 35mm lens laying around: http://jag35.com/new/products/student-bundle/. That or a redrock or letus....

You can also buy one of the new canon DSLR's with hd video full HD with a built in 35mm adaptor, the 7d has amazing quality at a fairly reasonable price point and the new rebel t2i is supposed to have similar quality for lower costs.

Someone who gets it, its more about what you put in front of the lens. Learn your camera, lighting, and read up on how to get better DOF without an adaptor unless your ready to make the investment.
