you know whats really funny? when people try to sound smart but they epically fail, especially when they put in effort to capitalize words and everything, cause then they cant say "it was a typo and i wasnt paying attention"

the richter scale is a LOGARITHMIC scale. what the fuck is a logrithium? lithium logs or something?

the richter scale is on a 10x log so if chile is 8.8 and haiti was a 7.0 chile is somewhere around 90x bigger then the haitian quake.

yea, but you also have to factor in the depths at which the quakes occurred.

something a lot of people forget about when looking at richter scales.

That's a really, really kind way of saying that Haiti was a severe shithole before the earthquake. Different earthquake sure, but had the Chile 8.8 happened in Port au Prince... there would be even more than nothing.

Hey Claudia, as much as we never really spoke to each other in Chile, I'm glad your Family and House are okay.

Chile is such an amazing and beautiful place, it is such a shame that something like this would happen to it. I wish the best for Chile and everyone there.

Haiti was a shithole way before that earthquake came, its true. Chile has been built up with earthquakes in mind, given that it happens pretty often there, so the chances of massive casualties as a result of a major quake there get lowered as a result of that. Though Haiti was not only not built for a quakes, their infrastructure was awful regardless. Haiti is infamous for having a failed government and has always has serious problems as a nation.
