i watched the game last night and i was wondering why they were crying. If I were them, i would be so pumped to get the silver for hockey at the olympics. i mean really, you get second in a world competition, be happier!


Anyone watching the USA vs. Finland game? 6 goals in the first period! 2 goals in 15 seconds? USA FTW!!!!!!

It blows my mind that the media is making such a huge deal about the Canadian team having a few beers on the ice after the game, after all the fans had left the rink. I think they had a victory cigar, and a few of them took turns on the zamboni taking photos with their medals. I guess the IOC has their panties in a twist over this.. especially since one of the girls is 18 (which is legal at home in quebec for her, or in alberta)

Then again, womens hockey is really a two team sport. They are thinking about taking it out of the olympics because no one can compete with US and Canada.

I also think how they had beers and cigars was fucking epic.

I honestly don't follow hockey very closely. Hell I usually only watch it every 4 years. Even at that the only women's games that I watch are the medal ones. I didn't know that it was such a big gap in skill.

That being said, sure the US team may have the right to feel disappointed BUT that doesn't mean they can't suck it up and at least put on a plausible smile for the medal ceremony/ national TV. For the US team they had a double fail, both in losing the game and the shitty performance receiving their medals. I don't care how you justify it was still pathetic.

a silver medal isn't impressive to win AT THE TIME....however, give it a few months/years, and when random people look up the wikipedia about these olympics and see it, they'll think "damn, 2nd place. not bad."

Its hardly flaunting a win, it's more like celebrating and unwinding after what I'm sure was a VERY stressful and sober 2 weeks, on top of years of training for this moment. Good for them! I don't see how this was unsportsmanlike at all, what sport/athletes don't celebrate after a HUGE win by a few beers or drinks? They all seemed pretty sober by the CTV interview 2 hours later.

population doesn't matter when we're talking about the Olympics.

for one, the majority of the united states couldn't even name a quarter of the olympic sports being played in the games. so yes they might be part of our country, but they're stupid dumbasses who can't tell a hockey skate from a downhill ski. unlike your country where 95%+ of the population is actively involved in winter sports.
for two, Norway is doing pretty fucking good and they only have 5 million people. explain that.

for three, just go make your own winter games. you can fill it with pussy bitch countries like Canada who blame their loses on dumb shit like it's own pathetic population.

I'm sorry that the majority of your country is a bunch of retards, but its true and whose fault is that?
Canadians are encouraged to play sports so we dont get FAT like way too many Americans but you may be suprised at how many fat ppl there are here too, granted its not nearly like the US, its worse than most other places in the world. Im not blaming losses for the inferior number of people that we have compared to you Im just saying for how many dumb cocks you have theoretically you should be dominating the games, same goes for places like China. Not only do you have way more ppl than us but 25% or more are IMMIGRANTS from places like asia and africa that have never seen snow before, ever wonder why 75% of the Canadian athletes, or pretty much all of them except for the hockey team have french names?? So yes population plays a huge part in the Olympics but you americans are too pussy to admit it. And Norway is doing well because they have programs in a differently structured economy to prevent kids from becoming dumb and fat like way too many americans so to avoid this they enroll them in sports programs to occupy time and keep them healthy to match a better education that is provided in North America.
