My physics teacher skis park..

Today I brought up skiing and was having a normal conversation with a buddy when my physics teacher claimed he likes to hit the park all the time. He said over vacation he overshot a jump and shattered his heel piece to his binding hahaha. I thought this was wicked funny, anyone else have any similar experiences?

same with my physics teacher.  he said he broke or hurt his back doing a pretty big jump and brags about doing helicopters!

Having just turned thirty - i have lots of friends who are teachers and are SICK skiiers.... they get a lot of vacation time.... 

In fact - in ski towns or in vicinity of ski towns - i bet there are kids on here who have teachers that are better skiiers then them....  

You might even have teachers who are on NS watching your every move - and laughing at the sh*t you come out with.... it's genius. So i am not in slightest bit suprised....  unless he is like 60!!

my american history teacher skins up eldora (the shitty mountain near boulder colorado he lives by) every morning before be comes to school ]. And rock climbs/mountain bikes too. needless to say I got a good grade in the class

Non science teacher story. My prof for my Genocide class happened to be at the same resort as my condo is over reading week, he is 28, turns out he is a sick skier and I skied with him for the weekend.

My algebra teacher saw my freeskier tribute to shane, and he borrowed it because he idolized him. He does some racing now, but I saw him in the park one night and he hit a mid-sized jump line, perfectly. Apparently he used to be pretty good at park.

my geography professor is from Santa Monica California, he skied at mammoth when he was growing up, lived in whistler for a winter and skied park all the time. Then he moved to northern alaska to study the climate. Now he's like 27 and an awesome professor, teaching physical geography in Western Ny...?

funny story. In grade 11 our Geography class was going on a trip to Mt. Washington and vicinity. Myself, I had already planned a trip with my skiing friends to go hit up Tuckermans the week before the trip was to take place.

So, I told my teacher that I would not be going on the school trip because I was going to the same place they were, just a week before them, and to ski. At first my teacher didn't believe me, than when I showed her what Tuckermans was all about she was jealous, wanted to come on my trip instead of the one the school was going on and was trying to figure out if there was a way she could hit up Tuckermans while down there with the school.



I guess some background could help - I grew up in Ontario, so going to New Hampshire for a trip was a bit more evolved than just getting on a bus and driving out for the day, it was a full on trip.

I know quite a few teachers who I ski with, mountain bike with, party with, etc. You gotta figure that most of your teachers are 20 something and still want to have fun with life. Be a cool to your teacher and he'll give you life +k.

My old japanese teacher was a back country ski and white water rafting guide and rips teli now the only way i passed that class was by chatting after class about skiinge and asking him what the snow in japan was like, and showing him a vid of the nippon open superpipe

my metal tec teacher was a mogul's coach, and evry anntendace he asks me "shredding up the park this weekend brenan?"' yupp mr Lay, and my ski hill is small and i always see him there and in attendance he is somtimes like, why do kids like you dress like thugs on skis, you guys look like your gunna beat somone up....

My old chem teacher doesn't ski, but his nephew skis in the powderwhores movies and he showed us one of them in class. It was awesome. He is also really gay. Thats not as awesome but hes still a cool guy.

my English teacher, also a male moddle, Is a ski instructor, he rocks the twins, and gives students free passes and has a ski trip out west every year, but he cant do them anymore because he got caught with weed. He also tore his ACL but is still shredin. And, He's Black. BOOM beat THAT

My chemistry teacher was a ski patroller at my local resort and pulled my pass for poaching outside the ropes. To get my pass back, I had to meet with him after class and listen to him lecture about avalanche safety. I learned a lot though.

There are a few really awesome teachers at my school. On of them is just pure radness- he teaches AP Statistics and Honors Geometry, and he is a sick mountain biker (read: he'll outclimb, out tech, out balance, out-pretty much anything but DJ you on a bike). He was head mechanic at a bike shop for many years before he started teaching, though he had his credentials, and was hired for the bike shop job over the phone, by answering the trick question right, and having the tech knowledge to back up the trick answer. Now, he is a teacher, and pounds out 30 mile road rides on some of the hilliest roads around most weekends, and shreds on a mountain bike with way more skill than you. He is also super wiling to teach an interested student anything he knows about bikes- from rising technique to rebuilding a bottom bracket to truing a wheel (and building one from scratch). I have done all my own bike maintenance since I met him, including fork swaps and other tricky things.

He is also a skier- He isn't a park rat, but he can ski the whole mountain no sweat (the mountains in question are in North Lake Tahoe, mostly Rose). And he is trying to progress- he's been talking about starting to get the hand of 1s and 3s, etc. During lunch, he watches ski flicks with us and has a pretty broad knowledge of the sport, and he's a good source for real weather conditions- he has relatives who live on the north shore.

He's pretty rad, and usually knows what's up right when it happens with regards to skiing, and always with regards to biking.
